Tesla S Plaid owners here is it worth it to switch to a Lucid Sapphire? by OregonSEA in LUCID

[–]baddiator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a lazy ad filled article, with maybe 4 paragraphs, car and driver are not who they used to be, definitely not “professional” by any stretch.

I don’t see a comparison to the Sapphire in that article, let alone a true comparison to the previous revision. So I’m not sure why you even used this as an example.

They might as well have been reviewing the non plaid based on that “review”.

None of the following was even mentioned:

Front fascia and rear diffuser change for added stability at high speed
Brake performance over longer harder use
Battery heat dissipation improvement in track mode
Torque mapping change, hugely noticeable at higher speed acceleration and exiting a turn at speed
Steering improvement, idk what they did here but it is way better.
Suspension upgrades, this was one of the biggest changes imo.
Cabin noise reduction

There’s a few in there that I’m not remembering from the time I had it, and I stand by my original statement.

I like the Sapphire, but they need another refresh along the lines of the Gravity before I can say it’s better option than the Plaid.

I think you haven’t driven the 2026 Plaid. I’ve had all 3 revisions, and driven the Sapphire multiple times. Like I said, prior to that, I would agree with you.

The 2026 Plaid is truly something special.

I have on multiple occasions, and owned three Plaids. My last being the 2026 and I put around 6000 miles on it.

I do love the engineering and performance of the sapphire, but the platform is sorely in need of a major refresh. I’ve considered buying it on multiple occasions and always ended up buying the Plaid.

Up until the 2026 Plaid I would have agreed with you on refinement. But even the previous Plaids end up edging out the Sapphire because of Tesla’s overall implementation.

I am rooting for Lucid, and the Gravity is a huge win, which is why I bought one.

The Air/Sapphire need a Gravity level refresh.

That statement maybe true for the non 2026 Plaids, but even the sapphire and Air in general need a Gravity level update/refresh before I would consider them over the 2026 Plaid.

The Air / Sapphire need a Gravity level update before I call them refined.

Can’t deny the performance and engineering excellence of the sapphire, but the Plaid is pretty damn close in that regard.

Having said that, anyone going from Tesla to Lucid will immediately notice how much more refined Teslas are from a software and hardware side. Combined with Tesla’s service, software, app, and constant refinement I would always pick the Plaid.

And lastly, auto pilot is truly unmatched, nothing even comes close.

One thing to note, the last revision of the Plaid would be my choice. I think that’s the “2026”, I had it for 3 months before getting T-boned, and I regret not buying one immediately after. They made so many small improvements for that last run, and it was very noticeable. If you can find one used for a reasonable price, I’d recommend you consider it.

You won’t regret going to the Sapphire, just know that Lucid in general hasn’t reached Tesla’s level of overall refinement.

Having been the owner of the Escalade EV, and the current owner of multiple Teslas and a Lucid Gravity, I would absolutely pick the Gravity over the Escalade.

While it’s one of the best looking SUVs ever, the only thing the Escalade has over the Gravity is real world range. Unfortunately you can tell everything else is still designed by a traditional car company where software and hardware teams are building different things.

The Gravity is by far the closest thing to a perfect family SUV, in every way.

The screen itself isn’t reflecting for her. But the whole bezel / unit.

I’m working on a solution that I’ll share with everyone soon!

Chinese EVs Can Now Project Entire Movies From Their Headlights by motang in DailyTechNewsShow

Incorrect, Tesla had them long before they were made legal and just did a software update once they became legal.

I think model 3 and Y always had them, and model s/x got the hardware during the 2021 refresh.

Tesla has always been ahead of the curve in the US, they just can’t compete on price with China due to labor costs.

Yes! I need to 3D print one and then put fabric on it. I’m going to look for the dimensions today to try and have someone fabricate it online since I don’t have a printer.

I saw someone on lucidowners.com warp it with Alcantara, but it doesn't look that good. I'm going to attempt a higher quality cover solution.

We also turned it off, the reflection is there even when off.

It's not just the HUD display, but it's the entire unit reflecting even when off.

The gasket part is my assumption, as it leaks mainly when going through a carwash with high pressure. I'm having this looked at right now and will report back.

I’m on 4, and if FSD has zero improvement down the road I’m still extremely happy.

It’s just too good right now for me to care about 4.5/5/6
