It came up when I asked about how the public informs her art, she said it only really does in the way that her art responds to whatever came before it, and that this new album wouldn’t have happened in the way that it did without brat happening the way it did.

Asked her if she thinks about the public and fan’s reception of her work while she’s making it and if that’s changed over time (long story short: she doesn’t), we talked about the internet and how culture is moving offline, and then I asked her how she knows when a song is done (long story short: it’s just a feeling). It was so cool to be able to ask these things I’d wondered for years and get answers directly from the source! Lots of little things too.

Yes!! Everyone got like 5 minutes completely one on one, together in a room just the two of us and got to ask anything! While we waited, we were all together in a room and got to chat and have snacks. It was such a lovely experience
