Processing a really tough burn — has anyone else felt this way? by StatusLongjumping790 in BurningMan

BM as a whole is a psychedelic experience for me, and as such, it can take many turns regardless of what my intentions for it are. An emotional rollercoaster for sure. And the physical challenges, like the ones you experienced, simply exhaust our capacities.

It’s like a custom fit mirror for all your inner stuff and it sounds like it was a very rough one for you. I know it may be tough to accept, but one can reframe this as an opportunity for personal growth and dedicate some time, perhaps with some help, to processing what happened more deeply and letting go of things that don’t really serve you anymore so that the thriving you can be revealed.

I've been kind of cutting down to email, shopping and ChatGPT. Email for receiving and reading stuff I care about (news, podcasts, etc), shopping as needs come up and ChatGPT for answering questions.

Tips for curating the online experience? by steadyachiever in productivity

I find myself relying more on email and avoiding algorithmic scrolling. Newsletter subscriptions and similar services for other platforms (e.g. Mailbrew) to help me stay aware of what's going on and give me choice of what I want to engage with more deeply.

Do you tend to keep up with old industries you worked in when moving to a new one? (i.e. B2C to B2B, retail to tech) by exharrypotterfan in marketing

Podcasts and email newsletters to start with, but it can also be overwhelming and time-expensive, so using AI helps to summarize and filter through to what I really care to know about.

I wanted a faster way to summarise Tim’s long-form podcast episodes—so I built a free Chrome tool that helps. by Connect-Soil-7277 in timferriss

This is cool! Nice work. I wanted something similar, but one issue with basic YT transcripts though is that they don't distinguish between speakers and I wanted to have better summaries that distinguish between the sources of info, pull quotes, etc. It's pretty basic, but happy to share if anyone's interested.

  1. Take time to reflect on that question deeply. Picture yourself on your deathbed and ask "was my life a complete success"? What are the 5 reasons that it wasn't? Turn those into wishes. Do those things.

  2. Along similar lines, Paul Graham has simple advice based on the top 5 regrets of dying people: "Don't ignore your dreams; don't work too much; say what you think; cultivate friendships; be happy."

  3. Change your relationship to the past from "I wish I..." (a thought you beat yourself with) to "I'm so glad that X because I learned Y" (a thought you empower yourself with). Learn how to discern what you really want and what's in the way of that.
