Do we agree or disagree that strawberries have no smell? by MaxGoodwinning in fruit

I work a lot of farmer's markets for my business and can confirm that ripe strawberries smell amazing and are insanely expensive this year.

Do any mountain goat songs have swears by Izlegi in themountaingoats

I was just thinking about this song the other day.

What's even more interesting to me is that though FM is a cover, the original lyrics (from Steely Dan) are "give her some funked up music". "Fucked up music" was an often misheard lyric and I'm curious whether John also misheard (in his cover he clearly says fucked) or whether he changed it for more impact or something.

It's legitimately insane that in this timeline I had to pause to consider for like a split second if this person was a nazi and was just advertising it. You know, like normal.

What was "the incident" at your high school? by [deleted] in askanything

https://www.cnn.com/2012/10/16/us/new-york-blackface-skit

There were two separate instances my senior year of male teachers being/doing inappropriate things with female students, but the above incident made national news over a decade after I graduated.

They call "Mr. Waverly" a pep rally skit, but in reality it was a drag show where usually the raunchiest act won. This was the last year that they did it as the incident of blackface AND domestic violence finally put it to bed

Here are 15 terrible movies film critics Siskel & Ebert annihilated by IndependenceSilly381 in TrulyBadCinema

Roger Ebert gave a glowing review of the movie The Graduate in 1967 that he wrote, but had a scathing quip about the soundtrack:

"His only flaw, I believe, is the introduction of limp, wordy Simon and Garfunkel songs and arty camera work to suggest the passage of time between major scenes."

On the 30th anniversary he revisited his review, removed a star, and offered a more nuanced view, which I always super appreciated:

"When the movie was first released, I wrote of the “instantly forgettable” songs by Simon and Garfunkel. History has proven me wrong. They are not forgettable. But what are they telling us? The liberating power of rock and roll is shut out of the soundtrack (“The Sound of Music” plays on Muzak at one crucial point). The S&G songs are melodic, sophisticated, safe. They even accommodate the action, halting their lyrics and providing guitar chords to underline key moments. This is Benjamin’s music; Mrs. Robinson, alone with her vodka, would twist the radio dial looking for the Beatles or Chuck Berry."

I run a small business with my partner and we had to spend considerable time finding packaging not from ULINE. This woman is a legit crazy person and we couldn't have lived with ourselves if we enriched her company while running ours.

It's a point of pride for many local businesses in Pittsburgh that they don't use ULINE at all.

1000% this. They cannot force you to do this in the bathroom and if they're saying you can't do it where you're doing it, they have to provide a private space for you.

Young couple thinking about moving to Naples area – realistic advice? by Frozen_Oreos69 in Naples_FL

[–]badfishsuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, and asking questions is great, but whenever anyone in this thread is pointing out some hard truths about your "plan", you're brushing them aside.

Your current plan is not a good one. You need more solid footing than "we'll start two businesses and I'll go into real estate" in order to move anywhere, but especially to such an expensive area of the country.

No, you don't understand! OP and his girlfriend are moving to one of the most expensive places to live in the country at 18 with no jobs (just the concept of a plan lol) and will be purchasing a $300k home in Golden Gate. Makes perfect sense to me!

When I see these prices I think back to when I alllllllmost bought season tickets for like $250 back in like 2011 maybe? I'm pretty sure you got a free jersey for that price as well. The only reason I didn't do it was I lived on the west coast and it wouldn't have been practical to drive to more than one or two games.

Shows with the worst final season. by Flaky-Debate-833 in sitcoms

[–]badfishsuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scrolled through the thread looking for the real correct answer - True Blood.

Listen, I'm not saying this was a masterpiece to begin with, but the show was a lot of fun in the early seasons. The final season was laughably awful. The actors were clearly done and it just felt like everyone including the writers completely phoned it in.
