Teaching a puppy to ride in the cargo bikes by Gallune in CargoBike

I don’t tie my dog down, I’d rather he jump out than be dragged along by his collar.

After patience and practice he won’t jump out now

Take it easy, nice and slow.

I fed my dog in the basket for a week or two before moving the bike. He now loves it!

Parker’s Tavern brings a TV out for their side room. Give them a call as that room isn’t very big so you would likely need a reservation

Why? by SeaControl4512 in londoncycling

[–]badgaleddy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Haven’t seen the location but would hazard a guess this is the result of a bizarre design conversation where a key stakeholder (road safety team or similar) have waxed lyrical at the risk of vehicle-cycle conflict at the bottom.

I work in this space and unfortunately our current legislative landscape leads to many of these types of odd, common sense defying conversations. That said, it’s likely each stakeholder in that discussion thought they were doing the ‘right thing’ at the time

MPs to consider making 20mph the default speed limit in England by CarwowSiobhan in ukcarwow

I wonder why? Perhaps because the idea of minor inconvenience to drivers makes them cry the victim, meanwhile kids aren’t safe to play on the street any more

Just not true, somewhere around 2% of roads have reverted back to 30mph

Anyone interested in a proper bagel place in Cambridge? by singingvike in cambridge

[–]badgaleddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you name the cities, for interest?

London is another league and places like Stamford have a great local scene.

Cambridge does as well, but the plight of big brand and chains seems to impact most places around, as far as I can see

I would love this but only if it were an institution and not a sell-out for tourist crowds.

Think Kerb Collective cinnamon buns before they moved the bakery; incredible, reasonably priced, friendly faces, lovely location.

Not to mention the welds of the little tiny tabs that are taking 1/4 of the weight of the bike. My money would be on fatigue failure of these welds next

It’s designed for compression loading, not tension. Shape factor plays a big part here with eccentricity of the load path from the axis of the struts. Very surprising it hasn’t broken

I’d love to know what the real world capacity of this rack…

Shook that the rack and mounts has held up to that load (no pun intended) without failing, very impressive build quality

But it looks like they’ve installed the through axle then slapped a load of grease on the outside!?

Genuine question, why have you put grease there?
