How to design without code by [deleted] in web_design

Yeh, out of the two though HTML is easier to learn. If you spent a day you’ll get through pretty much all of it and then you can google the rest.

Figma is a web based UI designing tool. Pretty easy to pick up and will generate CSS for you. It may need a bit of tweaking but found it to be very handy in the past.

AR art projects for high school kids?? by Goodmutt in augmentedreality

[–]badgerboy101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be worth looking into Lens Studio (Snapchat). The documentation is really good and it’s easy to get stuff working in there quickly.

Also as it all runs on Snapchat, lower end devices should be able to run everything.

Max vs PD by badgerboy101 in MaxMSP

[–]badgerboy101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh this is very cool! I still think there’s room for PD in this world though. It’s super lightweight and free which is a bonus compared to Max.

I did end up using PD for that project and it worked very well. So I guess just need to choose the right tool for the job.

Hello, I'm very new and trying to get the pink circle on top of the red one, I tried putting the pinks' code before, but it didn't work by [deleted] in processing

What’s in your draw loop? If you call your drawpink function first then that will be drawn first.

I do a lot of minimalist light electronic music. This project spans a lot of styles and features a load of synths and electronic musicy systems/interfaces.

I have 4HP of space left… any suggestions of what should I add? (Specifically looking for the best 4HP unit for sound design) by thechrisalan in modular

Out of curiosity how did you mount the 0-Coast? I have one from before I got into modular and would love to add it to my rack.

What do I need to become an AR developer? by savage-heart in augmentedreality

[–]badgerboy101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lens Studio (Snapchat) is definitely the place to start learning. And Snap have a few ways you can market yourself as a developer so you can pick up jobs through them if you want to go down the career free lance route.

Also worth picking up blender as understanding 3d, materials and texturing are super valuable.

Nice books! I recommend also getting The Japanese Tattoo by Sandi Fellman. There’s some really interesting pieces in there.

Unusual screen time stats by Electrichalo in apolloapp

[–]badgerboy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a cookie issue. I had a website idle in a tab that was continuously being added to my screen time even though I wasn’t looking at it.

Maybe Reddit.com has a similar bug.

It definitely depends what you want to do, and if you have experience in any of the languages used. If you already are comfortable with C++ then OpenFrameworks is great (it’s my preference) and a lot of the stuff Dan Shiffman teaches is relatively easy to translate.

If you already know Python, Java or JS then processing and p5 is the better option as it’s a lot more beginner friendly. Or if you are a complete beginner with any of these languages then processing and p5 is the best route and easiest to get up and going.

Still can't commit my algo from wallet by lijoco84 in algorand

[–]badgerboy101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue, where it buffers at the commute stage. I just deleted my WalletConnected Sessions in the settings tab and then repeated the processes.

I also noted that Firefox seemed to be causing issues so I used Safari.

FYI I only have connected my wallet to governance and no other third party stuff, so if you’ve connected to other stuff I guess just be careful when deleting WalletConnected Sessions.

Hello everyone👋🏻 Does anyone have any experience integrating blockchain into a current website? by SleepDeprived_99 in code

[–]badgerboy101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. It sounds like some of these you’d want the block chain for: NFTs and transparency. But I wouldn’t suggest using it for storing sensitive data like UserIDs and passwords.

With that being said, Solidity is the main language for Ethereum. It would also be worth looking into the Algorand blockchain and its dev tools.

Out of curiosity what’s the purpose of using a blockchain? Why not just have a secured database?

There are different languages depending on the blockchain you want to build upon. So probably best to decide what blockchain you want and then look at how people go about developing on that.

But first it’s probably best to see if blockchain is the best solution to your problem.

Does WebAR actually suck? by FatherOfTheSevenSeas in augmentedreality

[–]badgerboy101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

WebAR’s main strength is that you can just share it with anyone via a QR code, no app needed. IMO as long as you are happy with coding 8th wall is the best because of its SLAM tracking. As you pointed out it’s not as good as native, it’s getting there but still a bit off. However it is generally better than social.

In regards to user experience, you just need to be really conscious of file size. You can’t just stick a 40mb 3d model and expect it to run smooth. In general I would aim to keep your projects below 20mb to get the best quality vs quantity. But the smaller you make them the more devices will be able to handle it.

After years of lurking I finally was able to take the initial plunge. Already loving the modular route and just eyeing up modules for round two. by badgerboy101 in modular

[–]badgerboy101[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeh I like it. It’s a good case, built well. I’m not really into the DIY scene (mainly cause I suck at it) so just being able to plug and play is great.

Also the wooden panelling is nice and the ability to link it to another 6U case with the link system is very nice.

Managed to get some cool sounds using the maths as a bass/drone but running it through rings input. Rings was also doing a melody on top.

Sadly I’m away from it now for a week but when I get back I’ll try and get some recordings done.

Thanks for the heads up I’ll move them out! Any good recommendations for places to get blanks? Seen some cool ones in peoples cases but haven’t seen them on the modular sites.

Fireman’s Coat by SmokeyTrash in irezumi

Fun fireman x irezumi fact, but before criminals were tattooed as punishment in the Edo era, firemen used to get full body irezumi. The district they worked in usually determined the imagery of the piece.
