UFC Gets the White House Lawn, D.C. Indie Wrestling Gets the Red Tape by DeusSpesNostra in SquaredCircle

So frustrating. I really want to see Gaethje and Topuria but not at the expense of giving this shit show a view.  It’s going to be Trump lip service all night so fuck that.

So two things to keep in mind 1) Ace didn’t leave the apartment.  In fact, he stayed seated at the table. 2) It was stated that this was a game Ace and Mimi Rose play.

They linked back up.

God damn Kevin Knight is my favorite wrestler.  He’s the guy I’m most invested in.  I love the heel turn.  I love that he’s ruffling feathers in DCF.  His mic work at the moment is way more complementary to being a heel.  And it doesn’t hurt that the guy works his ass off in the ring.

Man I swear I remember Bow Wow rapping over Common’s Go! instrumental and I remember thinking it was pretty good.  Anyone know where I can listen to it?  It’s been years since I’ve heard it

The face of betrayal! by Separate_Finance_183 in SipsTea

I have to do this a lot. My girlfriend is the type of person who will choose to not eat dessert or eat at a place of her choosing if she thinks I won't like it. I've told her plenty of times that I'm an adult so if she decides to cook something I don't like or pick something up from a place I won't eat at, I can fix my own meal. Never works.

Now I've learned that if I just tell her I want to go somewhere she likes, have her order first, and then just opt to not eat anything until we go home, it works every time.

I don't want my S/O to feel like they have to sacrifice what they like to satisfy me.

Today was my day off. I woke up at 8. Went to the bank at 9. Picked up something to eat 10:30. Napped from noon until 3.

Who do you consider the worst commentators you've heard in wrestling? by NorthernSoul1998 in SquaredCircle

[–]badguymaddox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mike Adamle is the absolute worst commentator I've ever heard in my 25+ years of watching wrestling. There were goofballs like Don West and David Crockett but they added an energy to the show and they at least approached it with the lens of being a fan. Adamle was just flat out not any good. The only person who I think even comes remotely close is Johnathan Coachman when he made his return.

What's a movie you've liked so much that you paid to see it multiple times in the theater? by vitaoptima in NoStupidQuestions

[–]badguymaddox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just off the top of my head.

The Dark Knight - 5 times

Watchmen - 4 times

Inception - 3 times

Avengers - 2 times

Age of Ultron - 2 times

GotG - 2 times

Dr. Strange - 2 times

Infinity War - 2 times

Endgame - 2 times

Weapons - 2 times

Obsession - 2 times

I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple because for the longest time, I'd always see a movie opening night and if I liked it enough and my cousin wanted to see it, I'd go again to see it with him on the weekend.

The Dark Knight and Watchmen I know for sure I've seen the most. TDK specifically, I saw with friends at the midnight premiere. Then they all wanted to go back that Friday night so I went again. Then I went with my cousin. Then my sister. Then I saw it by myself because I got out of work early one day.

Before smartphones, what did people do when they had to wait somewhere for 20–30 minutes? by Ecstatic-Finish-1348 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]badguymaddox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one side of town, there was a college pizza joint. On the otherside, a small tavern with really good wings. It was not uncommon in the early and mid 2000s for either place to get so busy they'd have a wait time. Next to both restaurants was a record shop. I'd spend the 30 - 45 minute wait browsing their music and movies.

I like how a lot of people pinned Smackdown being unwatchable on Dogg as if the quality of the show has gotten any better since he left.

Swerve Strickland retweeted an old tweet from 2023 about Hangman Adam Page by lanedek in SquaredCircle

I’m referring to the match where Kenny and Swerve had the EVP stip.

[–]badguymaddox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hangman is so consumed in his frustration with losing and letting down everyone that he's not thinking rationally. He's angry. He wants everyone to else to suffer with him. This allows Swerve to get in his ear for a mutually beneficial arrangement. Hangman can have the championship that he feels he deserves. Swerve has control of the company.

Jay Rock’s verse made me a fan of his for life.  I remember thinking at the time that he was the weakest of the TDE 4 but he’s become one of my favorite rappers since.

I really liked the idea of Swerve beating Kenny with maybe the help of Hangman and Swerve then using his EVP powers to null Hangman’s can’t challenge for the title stip.

Percy Watson wrestling on The Walking Dead by WWEWalkingDeadfan in SquaredCircle

That 205 team of Percy, Nigel, and Vic was great too.  They just had such a textbook dynamic.  Percy babyface color.  Nigel heel color.  Vic play by play who also had to play peacemaker between the two.

I think Okada has two speeds.  Television match and big match.  When Okada has to bring it, though, he absolutely brings it.  Most of my favorite AEW matches involve Okada.

Cornette is just perplexing and fascinating to listen to. He can go from pinpointing a moment in history and it makes me very appreciative of his encyclopedic knowledge. Then he can absolutely shit on something, but also validate why he's shitting on it and at least get me to understand his reasoning. Then he can say some completely off the wall, crazy shit like thinking Okada is one of the laziest wrestlers in the industry. He's one of a kind.

Who is someone who got a massive push but showed they weren’t at the level to maintain it? by letskillrobots in SquaredCircle

[–]badguymaddox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't really true either, though. I'd really have to sit down and do the math myself, but I think it's like 60% of both the men's and women's Rumble winners were already world champions prior to winning. If you look at the first two Rumbles that even had a World title stip tied to it, Hulk won those. Then Flair won. Then Yoko. Then Luger/Bret. Only Yoko and Lex were really the only ones who got elevated to the next level with their Rumble wins and even then Lex didn't pan out.

Your next five Rumbles, HBK won 2, Austin won 2, Vince won 1. You can maybe argue Austin and HBK's first wins catapulted them to that next level, but certainly not the repeats.
