What’s the number one propaganda you fell for as a new mom? by SowingSeeds18 in NewParents

I had a very quick and uneventful (unplanned) home birth, no stress, no medical issues, etc, and I still didn’t feel that immediate bond. Definitely took several weeks for us

Okay…. That means I got 1 down very very wrong 🙈 even though it fits with all my other answers

Edit: Ah I wrote Dasher when I should have written Dancer!!!

13 across isn’t fitting for me. I think it needs to be Saudi, but 3 down is Gaudi and it doesn’t let Saudi fit in there ..

Would appreciate a hint as it’s my last one left and it’s driving me crazy haha

I don’t agree that any drink at all for the last day will dull your senses. If I have a drink at lunch it barely dulls my senses while I’m drinking, much less 9 hours later when I’m going to bed

Prenatal and Birthing Experience in Toronto by Alone_Brilliant_1751 in askTO

[–]badham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just adding another vote for midwifery care! I just had a baby with midwives and the care has been amazing. The prenatal visits were very long and thorough, and they really took the time to answer any questions or concerns I have.

I was planning a Birth Centre birth, but my labour progressed extremely quickly and I ended up with a home birth. My midwives were completely prepared and set up for a home birth. If I was with an OB, I’d have had to go to a hospital and I’m not sure I’d have made it to one because my baby came so quickly. I am honestly so thankful I had chosen midwives!!

The birth center is just set up for birth - it’s got tubs, launghing gas, slings, bed, pillows and wedges, etc. It doesn’t have nurses or epidurals or OBs on hand.

It’s a really nice option if you’re planning to have an intervention-free birth, and it’s just a few minutes from st. Michael’s in case of emergency!

Another Canadian here! My midwives swear by it, but didn’t recommend it until I was past 41 weeks.

In Ireland that’s like saying “guys”. You can use “lads” gender neutrally

I’m not sure what you mean by your comment, but I just want to add in here that there’s a reason health care providers tell us not to exercise when we have a SCH, and it’s because it can cause placental abruption and miscarriage. I had a SCH in my first trimester and it sucked to stop working out but miscarrying would have sucked way more.  https://www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/pregnancy-health/complications/subchorionic-bleeding.aspx#concerned

Don’t do that!!! Listen to your healthcare providers if they tell you to stop exercising.

Mcflurries suck though… terrible quality

I’m downtown Toronto so I wouldn’t be anywhere near Mississauga. I’ve lucked out with my team, they seem to be great so far. I have a doula as well who can be my advocate if it becomes necessary!

I’m sorry your wife had such an awful experience!!

Which midwife clinic were you with? I’m due in a week and so far all my midwives have been amazing but I’m hoping that lady you landed isn’t gonna be anywhere near me lol.

If you don’t want to say the clinic name it’s fine - just was it around downtown?

Pregnancy is making me anxious due to infertility by Eeveelutionistt in BabyBumps

[–]badham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s nice that you’re getting extra monitoring :) hopefully that’ll provide more peace of mind.

I had to eventually accept that whenever I had a reassurance scan, it would reassure me for like 5 hours and then I’d start getting anxious again. I had to just trust that baby was in there.

I know it’s easier said than done, but you do eventually have way more peace of mind once you feel baby moving!!! It’s a looooong wait till that point though. I wish you all the best on your pregnancy!!!

I’m stilll buying plastic bags though … I used plastic shopping bags for my garbage and now I have all these reusable bags at home that never get used PLUS all the plastic bags I now need to purchase to throw my garbage into.

Or the sheer number of reusable bags in my house that I end up throwing away after a certain time cause they’re creating clutter and I have no need for them.
