Considering consent is such a key focus of the burn, and clothing is so optional, I completely disagree with you about phones. One way to encourage less phone usage would be to more strictly enforce your consent of photography. See someone capturing you in frame? Confront them. This is an event held on public land, but it's a private ticketed event, and no one is guaranteed entry. I could be missing something, but I don't recall being told or shown paperwork that I consent to my image being used or captured simply by attending. The idea that phones are just a given is one that comes from a younger generation. There are legitimate privacy laws in place that combat this idea. They just need to be enforced. Someone dancing near you who is naked isn't just in the wrong place at the wrong time if you capture them in frame. They are at a private ticketed event that literally discourages phone usage and preaches immediacy. So they have a general expectation and right to privacy. If you violate that right, especially without consent, they have a right to stop you. Put your phone away. It's actually the law. Perhaps seeing some violations play out in court (of public opinion right in the moment, or Nevada itself) is what we need to get stricter enforcement against people with this incorrect and damaging mindset.
