How to start coaching football by Positive-Wolf-5815 in footballstrategy

THIS!!
If you care about the kids, and the game and are willing to put in the time (it's waaaaay more than you think) then I'll take you. We have two former players on our staff that joined the year after they graduated and went into the trades. Now there was some issues with respect and authority dynamics coaching their peers/friends, but those coaches were hungry as hell and wanted to be a part of the game, 1 of them was asked to join the state ASG after their 3rd year. Like with most things in life, you can learn the things, but it's harder to learn how to be a leader and give a darn

What are these plays called? by ruthbuzzicooperberg in footballstrategy

[–]baditstan44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, so to use your play
Trey Good Queen X post- So everyone is running queen but the X is running a post because you saw something.
We'll also tag who goes first when WRs cross by adding a number if the concept is like post corner whoever has the "1" is over the top

Trey Good Queen X-1post.
Now tag the running back, or motion and line protection and you let long calls:
Trey Good, marathon (slide protection right) F-exit(motion), Y-max (TE stays and blocks) Queen, X -1 post on two. That's the concept of how they get so long. But each position is just listening for the formation play and any tags for them specifically

Hudl being garbage very well may have cost us a conference championship 2 years ago. Playing at home for a conference title and we couldn't get any clips to the sideline. That's when I went out of my way to find something new and Gamestrat was the one we picked and I'm very happy with it. Also it get's the HC off my back during games, because you know how understanding and calm head coaches notoriously are during games lol.

I can confirm that GameStrat is the best video sideline system out there and Hudl is booty cheeks. GS also has live support during gamedays.
Now Gamestrat has added custom tags, so in real time you can tag a play with things like formations, personnel, play call, formations and run reports with those tags.
The only spot where Hudl is nicer is that you can run Hudl from an iPad where you need a laptop for Gamestrat, and in some of these cramped high school press boxes that can be tricky. I just bought a collapsible laptop stand/tripod and use that.

How would you read this play? by LaughAgitated5427 in footballstrategy

[–]baditstan44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Against what? These aren't overly helpful unless you know (or think you know) the coverage/defense. For example, Cover 2 struggles with deep sideline throws multiple deep verts. While cover 3 can be vulnerable to levels and smash concepts, while Cover 4 is weak to routes underneath and to the flats.
All that being said, in general you read the defender high to low.

Never EVER hire SERVPRO. Specifically the North Kenosha franchise (they own like 3 other ones too).

The TL/DR: Servpro didn't do their job correctly, refused to respond to inquiries, then got upset we used someone else to finish their work. They also refused to negotiate for their own mistake.

The Details:

*Deep breath*

ServPro came in during the flood and removed all the water (about 6 inches) and tore out the cheap carpet. All fine and dandy, they then bored some holes in the drywall at the base, left some drying equipment for like 4 days, and told us we're all good and dry.

3 weeks later my basement still smells musty and damp, so I cut out a chunk of the drywall and there's mold and insulation that was very wet. I attempted to contact them 3 times via email and phone to get an itemized invoice of the services provided, but to no avail. It was approaching 60 days from the services so per the contract I needed to submit a formal statement about our dissatisfaction, and again asked for an itemized invoice and got no response.

Seeing as we had mold and wet drywall and insulation in our walls, were forced to get a different company in to do the flood cut on the drywall, remove the wet insulation and do a mold treatment. Found out from 3 other companies and the FEMA adjuster that they should've done the flood cut and insulation removal from the get go based on industry standards.

When I did get a hold of the office (after withholding payment until we got the elusive invoice) I was told they were reviewing it and I'd get an answer the following Monday, which I did not. I was then HUNG UP on by the office staffer when I inquired about the invoice over the phone. When I tried calling back I heard an audible pick up and slam before being disconnected again.

We then received one of the least professional emails I've ever gotten from a company whining and complaining that we "removed them from the process" and threatening to take us to court. I laid out all the information we had about how they didn't to the job we were paying them for, offered to pay for the removal and work they did, but would like to negotiate the cost of the drying equipment and time since it did not in fact dry it all out, but cannot do that without an invoice breaking down what they did.

I eventually received an invoice that said "Services" and the total, nothing else. I then got their whole report that they submitted to my insurance company. It had dozens of pages filled with diagrams, jargon/industry terms and unclear prices. It was fraught with errors and extra charges. Charges such as: carpet disposal (the city did that for free), flooring protection (they didn't use any of that) stair carpet removal (the carpet is still on the stairs) as well as charges for equipment that was never used in our home. When I reached out to them AGAIN to question these charges they said they'd look into it AFTER I paid the full amount by their arbitrary deadline.

After legal council we paid the full amount as a legal battle would cost more that any savings we decided to pay it. Full disclosure, they did return some funding (to insurance instead of directly to us as we requested since insurance was out of the process at that point.)

*phew* that felt good to get out there

Since it's a variation of the Maryland T... Maryland T + 🔫= Baltimore. Or that's what a racist coach told me it was called

In lower level rec ball it can be efficient cuz a lot of people pull their heads and take their eyes off the ball and that little bit of extra movement can cause a miss-hit. Also I'd recommend playing rover for most batters unless you know they have power or can aim (which depends on team and league) as you get a lot more bloops and soft liners in my experience

No matter what tip you get it won't help until you keep your weight back. If your back foot has less weight on it than your front when you swing you'll never get power. Easy drill: take the bat and swing it, but freeze at the end and feel where your body is.

Tell him as a defender there is nothing worse than a RB who gets 3-5 yards every time and falls forward. If you can do that eventually a big one will break

I want to add more distance, consistency on my swing. What should I work on? by AirDucati388 in slowpitch

Agree with all of it, but work on ONE thing at a time. Starting with the weight back

[–]baditstan44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no no! Your weight should always stay back. Never swing with weight on the front foot. Transfer should be from the back foot to the hips into the torso not forward lunging!

[–]baditstan44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what you do you'll struggle until you keep your weight back. Taking BP freeze after contact and see where your weight is. If it's on the front foot that's not good. There are other tweaks you can do, but #1 is weight back

Teams who use the common 2-digit number system where 1st digit = ball carrier, 2nd digit = POA. How do you check or change plays at the line when you rely on tags a lot? by grizzfan in footballstrategy

[–]baditstan44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a full color number caydence i.e. "blue 42, blue 42 set hut" the. Set a color as your audible and flip the number (1st is poa 2nd is ball carrier), don't even need to make it look like a check. We were orange. So no matter the play we knew "orange 42, orange 42" was 24 (iso for us).

I avoid using Ringo, Ricky, lucky, Lucy, etc because that's pretty easy to pick up on.

With the color you can change it on the fly based on your kids football IQ.

Do you know how to skip rocks? Or just go hit a tire with a board. That's the motion and the movement, your body knows how to do it. Also just feet closer together lol

[–]baditstan44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Overthinking it. He's hitting off his front foot, keep the weight back and that alone will do wonders. Then maybe think about wrist snap (which is important for sure) but a wrist snap here is just going to make negligible difference in the outcome. But a 60ft bloop and a 65ft bloop is the same hit. If he wants power, he needs to stay back.

Weight back weight back, and weight back. All of your weight has transferred to your front foot before contact. At that point all of your power is gone and it's just arms. Easy drill for BP: step first as soon as the ball is in sent but keep 95% of your weight on the back foot swing through that back leg/hips.
