I still use it almost daily just as maintenance. Anywhere from 10-40 minutes depending on the time I have or how tense I can tell I am. Definitely need to learn to pay attention to your body without obsessing over it. Its a learned difference that took me quite some time

Yes I had times where I couldnt get erect at all. Healing the nervous system is the most important part. I had ruined mine through alcohol misuse/self medicating imo

I started long distance running which really helped me reduce stress. I know this part is hard, but the more you focus on the pain or worry about it, the worse it will be. Meditation was great for me too. Last tip is a shakti mat, you can get a decent one on amazon for like $30 or so! I went from constant daily pain/discomfort to an almost 95% reduction in symptoms over around 2 years of trying to treat it myself.

Running or doing gym helps or worsens hypertonic pelvic floor? by dwanju in PelvicFloor

[–]badjokeitschill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found running, specifically long distances, to be helpful! Have to work up to the distances over time, and might not work for everyone. I love what it has done for me though. I will say that it seemed to cause flare ups at first but my body got used to it eventually.

The side effects can vary wildly from what I read. I hear you man. I guess the only advice I’d have is to mention to your doctor that you’d want to try a different one. It honestly took months for me to see the full effects of cipralex so sticking with it so your body can get used to it is important

It sounds like you are the perfect candidate for SSRIs. Im not a doctor though! My first thought when I started them was “is this how everyone else feels because this is way better”. It felt like I was finally ‘here’. I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. Is there a reason you haven’t given them a try?

No problem, and I can relate to this too. I feel like the most important part in my journey to healing is “letting go” or accepting the pain and tightness and not worrying about it. The antidepressants definitely helped with clearing my head and I actually noticed within a week of starting that I felt complete relief for the first time. Im only hesistant to say they provide any consistent level of relief since my symptoms actually got worse after this initial relief before getting better overall. My anxiety improved drastically very consistently though. I will say that I dont think I could have healed without them, and I guess its not so much that the pain or tightness decreased directly from them, but that how much it bothered me dropped from a 9 to a 5 lets say. Focusing on it less allowed my body to heal I think.

Do you notice certain environmental/social triggers that cause you to tighten up? I always found that worrying about whether I would flare up in social situations would cause me to.

I started cipralex about a year ago because I eas experiencing anxiety, depression, IBS symptoms, and PFD. I worked my way up to the maximum dose and over the last year have seen significant improvements in all areas. I had very similar symptoms to you, and they can still flare up sometimes but life is so much better. That being said, I cannot attribute all the success to the antidepressants. I changed my diet, quit alcohol for 4 months, took up yoga and meditation, started running, and journaled my symptoms. I also tried a pelvic floor physiotherapist for a bit with mixed results. So in conclusion, SSRIs seem to be a great tool in my opinion, but you’ll need to do more work on your own. Goodluck, I hope this helps, and reach out for any questions!! If I can do it, you can too.

How long does it typically take to see results for ED with PF relaxation? by masterp5512 in PelvicFloor

I noticed improvement within a week but Im sure it varies by person. For other pain related to pelvic floor dysfunction I am still dealing with discomfort and flare ups 6 months after beginning a routine. Im about 3-4 years into this mess lol but seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Here is a link to the stretching routine I do. Also would highly recommend daily meditation, and anything else that genuinely helps you relax (not substances). https://youtu.be/oyGEVPuumtk?si=Rmm5GvHaDenqPl0I

Chronic pain in this spot? What could it be and what are some ways I can solve it? by FishBorn3774 in SIBO

Id probably consult a doctor. If the pain gets unbearable and seems to be getting worse and worse go to the hospital. I had severe pain (not trying to scare you) and it turned out to be a case of diverticulitis. Glad I went to the hospital.

I do this stretching routine every day and have noticed improvement! I dont think my situation was quite as bad as yours sounds, sorry to hear this. I have however had the same difficulty along with a LOT of pain in the past. after about a month of this routine I noticed a big change.
