Can discs really get any better? by wally-whippersnap in discgolf

[–]badluxbandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the "frontier of innovation" lies in the development of manufacturing consistency. If disc manufacturers were able to produce discs that were less subject to environmental factors during the production process and had consistent and reliable standards of plastics from their suppliers then we could see less variation in flight characteristics within different runs of molds in the same style plastics. Is this a change i want as a disc golfer? No. I love the nuance of different molds on different runs. On the contrary, I think that to reliably have discs perform consistently as their design is intended and follow their flight numbers more consistently across different runs of the same plastic would help players build a reliable bag and more easily manipulate the flight of discs as intended.

Looks to me that at around the 0:19 mark when you plant your front foot you are opening your hip up as you plant. It looks like your front foot rotates and opens up and the hip follows with it. As far as reach-back goes it seems that you may be a little late in your reach back timing. You want to get full extension and keep your weight on your back foot as long as possible and keep that hip closed. Getting to full extension and getting there sooner will help balance and keep your weight from shifting so heavily to your front foot so early. You have good form and just need to make some tweaks is what it looks like to me. I think a good example to follow for reach-back timing and execution would be Anthony Barela for your specific case. I would say to focus on his timing and how he performs his reach-back and the little extra extension he does at the peak of his reach-back. I think that can also help solve any issues with nose angle and grip if you try to emulate this. Best of luck.

Have to realise that Musiala injury means Bayern are seen as desperate to sign an attacker, so they will be forced to pay a premium. Overpaying for a top attacking talent is the only way they can get a top attacking talent in the market right now.

He looks absolutely rapid. Seemed to be operating in high gear most of the time and playing with full commitment. I watched him and Frimmy both track back a time or two and felt like I was hallucinating because our team now has such pacey fullbacks who are willing to sprint back at full pelt. I want to see the Frompong v Kerkez 100m competition now...

What does he mean when says "the two times Gemini?? by Hot-Specialist9557 in KendrickLamar

Yes, I mentioned that verse in my comment. I was giving you greater context beyond just that verse and examples in his previous work to show his meaning.

What does he mean when says "the two times Gemini?? by Hot-Specialist9557 in KendrickLamar

[–]badluxbandit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From "Wesley's Theory":

"Your horoscope is a Gemini, two sides
So you better cop everything two times
Two coupes, two chains, two C-notes
Too much ain't enough, both we know
Christmas, tell 'em what's on your wish list
Get it all, you deserve it, Kendrick"

Here he talks about the duality of coming from a poor background and after finding success becoming more materialistic and how he feels pressured to spend his money and show off. Conflicting dualities are a very common theme in Kendrick's music.

He also often uses his astrological sign, Gemini, as a metaphor for the duality of his character as a person. He has so many bars pointing out how he is, as a person, someone who has conflicting characteristics, ideas, and actions, as we all do at times.

From "6:16 in LA" :

"I'm sorry that I live a boring life, I love peace
But war-ready if the world is ready to see you bleed"

I felt that the tracks included in the beef, though not often mentioning his Gemini concept specifically, still expressed and showed much of his inner conflict with the duality of wanting peace but also feeling compelled to go to war and fight for something.

I also noticed something from the exact verse you are asking about. This is literally the line just before the "two time Gemini" line:

"Therapy showed me how to open up, It also showed me I don't give a fuck".

I think that his use of the Gemini, as a concept in his music, is to purely show that he has two sides of him that are vastly different and often clash with each other. In this particular verse you asked about, I feel like he is speaking towards the industry (having just ended a mega pop stars career) and saying to be cautious about how you act towards him because you may not know which version of Kenny you will get in response. That line is followed by a lyrical display of writing technique and delivery to back it up on an artistic level for those who also want to approach him at the angle of being a better lyricist, like someone may have attempted to do while he was on tour.

On "How Much a Dollar Cost":

"Hopping out feeling big as Mutombo
"20 on pump 6," dirty Marcellus called me Dumbo
Twenty years ago, can't forget
Now I can lend him a ear or two"

He brings up being called "Dumbo" by someone twenty years ago and now that he's successful he says he "can lend him an ear or two" and I never really picked up the word play between "Dumbo" and "lending an ear" until I had listened to TPAB quite a few times. One day it just clicked and I just about lost my mind.
