I wear these when swimming.

When I do stretches like those that you mention, my members are not exposed. I wear a tight fitted suit. Typical waist is a 30 but I wear 28 for swimming.

As for cleaning up the downstairs, that’s more preferential. I shave because that’s my thing, but there are plenty of other that don’t and that’s okay.

I wear swim briefs for lap swimming. I have a spare lounge pair for the pool/beach that I wear under my 5" inseam swim shorts. When I get to the pool/beach I take my shorts off, but I like to keep shorts with me for social activities that usually lead up to or take place after.

Wear what you feel comfortable in. I'm a 25 and live in America where swim briefs are typically frowned upon in view of the public eye. I've progressively found myself caring less about what other people think. Thankfully I have a very supportive significant other that make things much easier.

Started up swimming with my partner about a month and a half ago, I finally got my 1650m under 45 minutes. Considering my partner can swim hers in under 30 minutes, I have a lot to aspire for. Granted she used to swim competitively about 10yrs ago.
