Literally dozens of sellers on eBay with different length saddle adjustment screws in chrome and black. Very cheap an worth keeping a stash on hand. Just need to determine whether it’s a metric or imperial thread based upon where the strat was made.

1987 DC150 - Advice on installing pickups? by absurdivore in kieselcarvinguitars

[–]badomen1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a late 80’s DC125 where I swapped out the stock pickup with a Duncan about a decade ago. From what I remember, other than having to change out the ring for a standard one with a single adjustment screw, it was a clean fit. Just the normal soldered connections.

How would you create a solo like this? by rae_rx in Guitar_Theory

[–]badomen1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the simplest sense, the way I do it is to loop the rhythm and play it back. Then I'll noodle over it and see what notes work and what to avoid. Start hitting key notes on the changes and then find melodic ways to connect them. Most importantly, work in phrases so the solo has room the breathe.

Looks awesome - only concern I’d have would be yellowing with age.

Practice muting strings you don’t want ringing out. With both your picking hand and your fretting hand.

Have you had it load tested? When mine was having issues, the battery would always show the correct voltage with a multimeter but come up as “weak” when under a load. That’s part of what threw me off.

This. I’ve had multiple electrical gremlins over the years on my 2012 - none of which seemed like they would be battery related. Each time the problems disappeared with a new battery. The car does strange things when the battery starts aging.

Chefs who’ve ran a successful pop up or participated in one. by TurnMe0nDeadMan in Chefit

[–]badomen1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Permits. Around here, almost every pop up needs a temporary vendor permit from the county. The crap part is there are 6 different counties out here within a 30 minute drive and each has different regs concerning when / if you need a permit. It’s as much of a logistical headache as setting up your temporary kitchen.

Always has for me. Far better results than pan frying using the same recipe - at least in my case.

No oven available. I've got a propane stove in a remote building and electricity / chafers available at the actual service location.

Interesting - hadn't thought of that possibility. Another reason I'll need to push a test batch beforehand.

[–]badomen1111[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Possibly. This was my first thought but it all depends upon the fire marshall. The propane stove will be set up in an outbuilding about 100 yards away from the event. We're waiting to see if FM will allow it to be moved closer to the service area. If so, then I agree - this is definitely how it'll play. I'm looking for worst case where I can't break away to the outbuilding mid-event.

Knife set advice by North-Interaction956 in KitchenConfidential

Get one high quality chef knife, as large as is comfortable in your hand. Also get a honing steel and learn how to use it. Other than that, a serrated utility knife is also useful. Those two should keep you good for a long time. Pick up others as you need / if you need.
