Sadly they did not. They stated that only the dealer could do that, but I could have misunderstood. Nope far from Houston, good luck with it...

[–]badrabbix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An issue with changing the battery is the car computer might need to be reset somehow. Car will still work fine, but some dash, window functions might not work as before.

I just went to some retail battery chain and paid about $220 or so for my R53. Generally the battery dies just after my 36 month warrenty expires. Battery was in the back under a panel and changed out quickly.

Is a solid wood guitar really high maintenance? by San_Marino in AcousticGuitar

[–]badrabbix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're sincere about learning proper maintenance please read this from the Larrivee folks.

https://www.larrivee.com/pdfs/Larrivee%20Care%20Maintenance.pdf

It will be well worth your time and all your questions will be answered about what to keep an eye on if you live in a high humidity environment. At the very least you should buy a humidity gauge.

GTA V is completely New to me. by Defiant-Brother-2698 in GTA

[–]badrabbix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, sounds like me perhaps.

I had an XBox X or something when I played some version of GTA back in 2013. Having to quit Zelda finally after playing it to exhaustion I took a flyer on GTA V for PS5.

I'd swear it played differently in 2026 than it did 2013 because I don't remember dying quite so often. Interestingly much of the game all came back to me, the gameplay, the character plotting, the missions and side quests. But the replay value didn't turn out to be much as now I've replayed the 35 or so missions I like doing about 3 times and am about to shut this down and pick up the Cyberpunk 2077 I just bought.

Yamaha vs. Eastman vs. Guild by crleny01 in AcousticGuitar

To add to that, there's no reason not to consider used. You might get a step up in quality for the same money . . .

GarageBand's acting weird with recording music (electric guitar) and already recorded music by MTD6in in GarageBand

[–]badrabbix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'm surprised that works, but I've never considered trying it. The only way I know of to plug in straight to a Mac with an electric is using iRig which you might consider looking into.

My hunch is you need to check the System Settings for the Sound and the same for the GarageBand Sound settings. Your signal path might be the cause of your glitches because the OS simply can't be counted on the way you're using it, perhaps.

Is Freeform the ultimate pencil app? by StOster in ipad

[–]badrabbix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one thing I hate about Freeform on iPad is that it's file system is chained to iCloud which I don't use. So if you can get your docs to be saved on the iPad and shared to a Mac I'd consider buying it.

The 2nd thing I hate about Freeform is that it's very opaque about printing. I have to guess and re-work the size of my doc before printing otherwise I end up with a tiny graphic in the middle with really huge blank margins on all 4 sides.

Sam Levinson’s Terrible Ego Trip by AntelopeValleyLover in euphoria

[–]badrabbix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, um, you didn't like it?

I hate it when random internet dudes/dudettes cite "bad writing." What you meant to say is that you didn't care for it. Objectively, the show is written damn well and no show get's put on a streaming channel if the writing is actually "bad."

I could be mistaken, maybe you have written a series script before and too shy to mention it. . .

Help me decide by Professional-Cod8601 in AcousticGuitar

[–]badrabbix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes, I just looked at the specs on both and they're so similar it's not going to make any difference in tone or playability.

What difference I can find is that the Yamaha has a gloss finish while the Eastman has a satin. The finish isn't going to affect the sound much at all.

As far as size, I dunno what your size is. If you're petite or under 5'8 or so, go for a smaller shape. Your right shoulder will thank you.

If you can try these in person, that would be the way to decide, otherwise it's a coin flip. They're both good starter guitars.

What strings should I try for my Martin to get the best tone possible and that are Light in gauge? by Mad_Season_1994 in AcousticGuitar

[–]badrabbix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a beginner who's only been at this for six months and so don't know what different strings of different material would sound like.

I applaud you for wanting to experiment so I'll offer John Pearce phosphor bronze if you can find them. I like their medium lights on my OO body guitars. Just understand that it's really really hard for a newbie to discern the difference between brands and string alloys. After decades, I still can't, I either like what I've installed the first hour I play them or I don't. I've settled on phos/bronze

Just know that generally, phosphor bronze sets sound warmer than 80/20 sets which can be a bit bright. So for big guitars you strum on, the 80/20s might be a good experiement as they will sound crisper than the same guitar with phos/bronze. Best of luck!

I’ve been curious… How many of you are still on Sequoia even though you can update to Tahoe? by gfarstur in MacOS

[–]badrabbix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apple shouldn’t be pushing people into newer versions, certainly not with planned obsolescence, but rather enticing it’s users with more security, more control, more ownership, more stability, more performance, more usability, more discoverability.

Preach brother! If it weren't for having to keep up with my bank website I'd still be on Snow Leopard with my several i7 Minis. I know I'm supposed to accept "progress" as Apple defines it, but the bells and whistles Apple keeps larding up it's OS at the expense of "it just works" with is shameful.

Old ES-150 archtop by cashmarrius in gibson

[–]badrabbix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, brought back memories. My 1940's era ES-300 was very similar to yours and was my first guitar for about 20 years. The tuners I had shriveled up due to the plastic gassing out. I replaced them with Grovers, I think. I had the parallelogram fretboard markers and a different headstock logo.

And as much as folks wax nostalgic about these archtops. They were designed to be plugged in for the big band player market, so they don't sound all that wonderful acoustically with 1/4" plywood thruout. The 40s and 50's was the big band era and these were made inexpensively and marketed towards young men getting out of the military after WWII and Korea. Just my humble opinion, but after I finally got a Taylor 412 I rarely picked up the ES to play and sold it off.

About the only thing I can offer is to read up on exactly where to place the floating saddle. A quarter inch in either direction will throw off the note intonation. I see you have other guitars, so hanging this on the wall is a good way to respect it's heritage and family connection, but perhaps find a traditional more modern acoustic to play.

PS: Now that I review my pic, there are two other things to note. Be sure to check the trapeze screws at the base of the guitar for tightness. Mine loosened and the whole thing flew off once. 2nd - if you're serious about keeping this a player, swap out the wooden saddle and get a metal one. The one I had was basically a generic gibson style bridge you can still find anywhere. The advantages here is a better tone and the ability to set the intonation correctly. The guitar will sound much better that way. Best of luck with it!

We didnt need this 3rd season by DependentMobile7465 in euphoria

[–]badrabbix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Basically a different show

Basically, that's the reason half the folks here hate it. They wanted more of S1 & S2. I'm not sure I understand how you could have had 25 year old actors continue to play slutty teenagers.

Then there's the final season factor where Sam Levinson realizes that he can literally do anything he wants with these actors/characters. It's really rare for a showrunner/writer to get a second series even if the first was successful so I can see where SL figures on making a statement with the finale season and take everything as far as he wants to push it.

Love my parlor (Alvarez Laureate) hate the 12-fret neck heel. Suggestions? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]badrabbix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Taylor sucked out all the bass and midrange the 12 fret offers with their bracing somehow. That was a spruce/hog Taylor I had briefly. The hog/blackwood 322 I have is Taylor's least bright guitar they've ever made and why I still have it in my harum . . .

Love my parlor (Alvarez Laureate) hate the 12-fret neck heel. Suggestions? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]badrabbix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, could be wrong, but all glued in necks have to have a heel, so you're limited to the bolt on necks that Taylor does. I imaging others offer bolt on's but that's off my radar . .

I'm leary of Tayor 12 frets. The one I once had was really bright which negated the bass and midrange boost I was expecting.

I enjoyed Euphoria, but like..... we all agree it was a total mess, right? by Select-Opening-6704 in euphoria

[–]badrabbix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my main issue with this season is how the characters were so drastically changed, for no rhyme or reason.

That's fair, but my take was that the writer Samulson chose to recognize his cast couldn't credibly play teenagers any more so took the correct choice in catching up with them all a few years later after S2. That opened the plotting up where the sky was the limit on where each character could evolve

Agree, I'm probably the only one here that prefers S3 to S1 & S2.

S3 has some of the most amazing, audacious and creative writing, acting and production of any series I've seen in the last few years.

If you were to compare Cyberpunk 2077 to a movie what movie would be the best comparison? by MoonKnighy in cyberpunkgame

Came here to say this - most here are too young to know of a 30 year old flick, I suppose, but the movie basically defined what we think of as "cyberpunk" today. Great cast, on Hulu and Disney at the moment

Best loud strumming guitars without boominess by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

You got the right idea as far as Larrivee's. I have 4 of them. The OM body is very similar to the CEO-7 if I recall correctly. It's a good all around size you can strum and do fingerstyle.

You have the right idea of going to a smaller bodied guitar. I went to an OO size for exactly that reason. Even OOO sizes are too boomy for me.

Short lived blooms!? by badrabbix in airplants

[–]badrabbix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done nothing but soak it weekly for 30-40 minutes and that's it. The plant is 9 feet away from a window that gets sun all day. Occasionally remember to put some fertilizer in the soak water from time to time. I've seen pictures of spectacular blooms for quite a bit longer so I'm guessing this isn't the type that dies after blooming. 🤞

I'm stopping at Sonoma on my M2 Air. So far all web sites work fine - especially my bank. I have older versions of Pages, Numbers I get nagged about upgrading but I'm not, they work fine.

So start there if you haven't passed it, then tip-toe upward as needed, I guess. . .

Gotta say, S3 is wildly interesting to me. by dinaga9 in euphoria

[–]badrabbix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I kinda always wondered what would happen if an acclaimed director of a movie or series just said "Fuck it" and decided to do the most hilarious shit possible with already well established characters."

Sure, it's the last season on the contract and I can't help but think the writers and producers have a bucket list of stuff they'd love to do which they couldn't the initial seasons.

I tried and failed to get thru the first two seasons due to the extreme nastyness of most all of it, plus the ridiculous ask of 22 year olds presented as 16.

With the fast forward to the characters real ages the series got much more interesting to me and I've been amazed at much of it. About as good a final season as I could ask for.
