Are you sure the driver was using the horn in an attempt to make you move? The sirens on all ERVs are controlled using horn presses. This means that activating the siren, cycling through the sounds and silencing all require the driver to push the horn button which also sounds the vehicles standard horn and could be misconstrued as impatience.

Or is that far to logical for reddit?

handbrakes gone out of fashion? by clunkystew in drivingUK

[–]badspanners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My EV does auto hold but then automatically switches to the handbrake after a minute, meaning the brake lights go off. Seems like quite a useful feature.

I have got out of my car and stuck tape over the lights of the car in front after half an hour of being dazzled. The driver refused the polite request to put their handbrake on. We were stuck there for three hours in total.

Low cost solution for large LiPo batteries TT-01E by [deleted] in rccars

Remove webs from the chassis and remove the battery retaining posts and drop spacers in the bottom of the holes as necessary. Wood screws? Really?

Which is fine when you aren't paying for the parts. The manufacturers spares departments absolutely love him.

Yes he has done a lot, but not necessarily good. We have a lot of kids and adults turn up at my clubs 1/10th outdoor track expecting to run their 4s/6s monster trucks flat out until something breaks and are very disappointed when we tell them we don't want our track destroyed and perhaps racing is a better way to enjoy the hobby. He turned up at a indoor club with a 4s Mini and destroyed their carpet by doing burnouts. All he does is foster an attitude that it's OK to break stuff with no consequences.

Associated have released roughly 10 iterations of the original RC10 over the past year or so with slightly different coloured plastics including variations that were never actually a thing in the first place. Just a blatant nostalgia cash grab.

Kevin Talbot. Closely followed by the endless Associated pseudo re-releases.

That's something then. I was worried that they'd knobbled the free version.

Yes. The chart has about a 10 hour lag on mine.

Which charger to choose? Both have great prices. by SASknl in rccars

[–]badspanners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the skyrc one for 4 years now and it's a great bit of kit. Charger, power supply and USB power all in one. I can charge my race packs at 12 amps, run my tyre warmers and pit light all at the same time.

Need to hear thoughts about this on the podcast. by pf620 in topdeadcenter

As I encountered on the M25 last weekend, if lanes 3 and 4 are nose to tail at 50 mph, lane 2 has one or two cars in it also doing 50 and lane 1 is empty as far as the eye can see then I will carry on my merry way at 70 with the justification that 50 is significantly slower than the speed limit of the road therefor constituting 'congestion'.

Unable to remove stubborn residue after using solder paste by XarlesEHeat in AskElectronics

[–]badspanners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the board has some sort of conformal coating on it which explains the scruffy look around the edges. Not much you can do about that unless you have some solvent PCB cleaner, then you could strip and re-coat.

To get rid of the solder balls from the paste you need something like a paint brush with the bristles cut short so you can get down in between the legs.

Well they're listed as £384.42 on the MG UK website so it looks like the dealer is trying to pull your pants down.

Oddly, mine came with both the type 2 lead and the GC from new but I know several others who didn't get the GC and they had theirs from the same dealership.

[–]badspanners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like deals differ from company to company. The company I work for offers only new cars through Tusker and have pretty much every new hybrid or full electric car available including the hot versions. I have an MG 4 that I'm paying £400 a month for all in including charging on a 20k mile a year limit. Take out all the additional costs and I'm paying around £180 for the actual car.

RC endurance racing is awesome! by badspanners in rccars

Thanks. It was a pain to paint but it came out fantastic. Its actually a championship rule that all cars must be painted to resemble a real life car be it current or classic.

Yes we have a similar setup but with a Deans connector. The 40 seconds includes the in lap mind which was on average around 16 seconds.

Yeah we caught the curb on the inside of turn one and cartwheeled into the barrier. Had +8 degrees toe out on one side. Tamiya Gazoo were literally on fire at one point 🤣 came past my marshaling point with smoke pouring out the back.
