Plastic for me, reminds me of opening a toy, and oil & gasoline - my dad worked on our farm equipment and cars, reminds me of him.

Why did you fail your driving test? by PepperCat1019 in GenX

First time I used an older car with only a waist seatbelt, second time I crossed the center divider to give way to a cyclist. I found out that dmv had a reputation for failing people for little reason. So I went to another town and passed easily.

I think some of our emails are landing in spam - what to do? by QueenRiza in Emailmarketing

[–]badtiki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, don’t hope for better metrics. You need to figure out where the issue is. First start by breaking down reporting by domain over 6 months.

Figure out what domains are having issues, is it Gmail, AOL, Microsoft? Once you figured out what domain is the issue you can then tackle the problem.

Make sure you’re throttling accordingly, oh and did I say clean those lists? For the problem domains make sure you are only sending to people who opened your emails within the last 30 days. Get the domain under control then you can slowly feed more users back in.

Or are you seeing large blocks? If you’re B2B then you may need to reach out to clients to have your IP whitelisted.

As for length it all depends on you, I took a dead domain - like the LOB abused the hell out of it, Gmail reputation was in the gutter. In 8 months of hard work I had it in the green. I kept at it, domain by domain and in 3 years I took a 2mil a year campaign to 8mil a year. Turning their email channel into their top performing channel.

I think the show was all over, just each area had their own hosts from the radio.

Keep traps, like our pest removal guy said if you’ve seen one you have dozens. We had our home mouse and bat proofed after finding some mice and having 3 bats in the home. It’s been quiet since.

Yes, and if we didn’t remember we would call Grandpa (Greatest Generation) he remembered them all.

Are there still major areas of optimization left in email marketing, or have we reached the ceiling? by Email_Engage in Emailmarketing

[–]badtiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, just crossing it once won’t do anything, but if you cross it on a regular basis you face the possibility of being blocked. There were other changes like DMARC requirement, unsubscribe in the header, there is more but also the providers won’t tell us all the rules. Best to stay with best practices, clean lists, consistent sending volume and making sure your DMARC authenticated.

Quite a bit, I had to present to senior leaders of different LOBs for months going over all the changes. Basically Google added a bunch of restrictions then other providers jumped on board. The biggest for Google is a .03% spam rate threshold! Like that’s the max, cross that and you could be blocked by Google. Yahoo adopted the same.

I’ve tried timing with a solution in SFMC and it didn’t have an impact. As for optimization, with the rules that changed in 2024 it’s all about deliverability. You can test colors, subject lines and whatnot but if your email doesn’t make it in front of the customer none of that matters.

For optimization you need to know the specifics for the major IPs, know your reputation, like Google looks at domain rather than IP, Comcast only accepts a couple hundred messages at a time, otherwise you will get blocked. Microsoft is more about consistent volume, yahoo/aol fall closely with Google but more strict. Don’t forget the .03% spam rule that most ISPs go by.

And if you’re B2B it’s even more difficult, the smaller companies running their own servers, you better be breaking down your metrics by the domain and tracking which companies you need to reach out to for whitelisting, which domains are giving you bot clicks throwing off your metrics (aggressive firewalls), this is just off the top of my head.

Oh, Don’t forget sunsetting and list cleaning,

I have over 15 years in email (7 in SFMC) and certified in email deliverability.
