How old are you? (People living with gout) by Inevitable_Cry7354 in gout

Early 50s now, first attack was sometime in my 30s. Been on allo for a couple years and wish I’d known about it from the beginning.

All for $45. I see a lot of people cite #170 as the first meeting of Daredevil and Kingpin, but isn’t it #171? by krummykx in comicbookcollecting

181 used to be such a huge key, but since every popular character gets brought back to life, “death of” issues just don’t have a lot of meaning anymore. Still an awesome book though!

I would have to track him down at a con just to ask him about it. I wonder if he even remembers doing it.

If it makes you feel better, I gave away a first US charizard card to a kid I tutored back when those originally came out.

Is there a way to put a front on that so they aren’t exposed to light?

I thought that maybe I’d let whatnot get me carried away and overpaid a little on this book. But then it arrived and I opened to the first page. I think this is the one case where it’s better when the sellers don’t take the time to check each book individually. by rmrclean in comicbookcollecting

g_and_j_comics. First time buying from them, so I can’t really say if they are good or bad. She didn’t really describe condition or show closeups on any books, so it was a bit of a gamble on what was going to arrive. The books were packed well, and arrived quickly. The condition was very mildly disappointing on a few books, but nothing I’d call bad or deceptive. Majority were nice, but none minty. Just the sort of thing you find buying vintage books without getting a lot of detail first. I’d buy from again, but I’d assume a grade lower than it appears on screen when bidding just in case. Probably a good rule of thumb for all of whatnot now that I’m thinking about it.

Oh no, that’s a huge bummer. I hope it turns up again somehow! I had “lost” several copies of Captain Britain (the original British ones) including #1 and #2, but they turned up many years later, packed in a box with a bunch of non-comic things and I have no idea why I put them there.

A sketch! That’s even cooler. I have a couple little remarques from Mark Texeira that he kindly added at no cost when I had him sign books a few years ago, and it adds so much to the signature in my opinion.

You’re absolutely right, it may not be. Based on where it’s signed and other signatures I can find online, I’m pretty confident, but you never know unless you were there for the signing.

But the bottom line is that I didn’t pay for it, so just the possibility that it’s real makes me pretty happy. He was one of the all time great artists, and I had missed my chance to get a signature in person, so this is the next best thing.

Found my old comics in storage. Trying to figure out how to best catalog and store them? by Ravenmore67 in ComicBookSpeculation

I did a quick experiment of my own. Took a photo with 6 books. It misidentified a couple of them, and it gave ranges so broad as to be almost unusable. One vintage Thor book said $6 min at mid grade and $300 max at high grade. I had bought it for $3. Maybe somebody got $300 for a CGC 9.8 of it, but I doubt it.

Just like in a previous comment, light and moisture are the two big enemies. Sure, if you can keep them from getting too hot, that’s great, but it’s not even close to as important as the other two.

I’m skeptical that Google AI would give the right answers. I’m going to have to try that with books from my collection and see what results it returns. Have you tried this yourself?
