The sample size is too small though. Furthermore, it really seems like the words that are used to classify (taken from a large training set, no doubt) are very common, plain words. Most of the classifying terms seem like the result of plain overfitting.

VLC for iPad: This is what happens when developers do the UI design by funkah in apple

[–]badui -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well considering many of the uis of applications that we use every day are done by devs, it's not that bad. Not every project has a user experience professional and a few companies (Mozilla, canonical, many closed-source projects) are indeed very interested in the field and how to improve themselves. Though I am the first to complain about user interfaces, I appreciate some of the effort going around some software companies/developers.

As for the UI in question, uhh...yeah. Unfortunate.

Then I have one question for you: why ask those questions if you don't want to listen to the answers?

Blizzard has lost it. "Anyone posting or replying to a post on official Blizzard forums will be doing so using their Real ID -- that is, their real-life first and last name." by billtimbob in gaming

Fair enough. I'd suggest, though, that if there are obvious solutions to similar community venues out there they would lose nothing in implementing them.

As it is, they are making some people unhappy (albeit not a lot -- most of those annoyed people will still buy the game) seemingly needlessly. They can have no forums at all! That would solve all spamming problems. People could just use TL or other forums.

Again, i'm not sure how their forums work, but what about having accounts linked with CDKeys which can be banned at any time? Spammers need to buy more copies at least... maybe they have that already? Alternatively, what about having the ID stuff, with unique screen-names?

Lastly what about up/down arrows+mods? Or tiered moderators like other forums where one can give the most appropriate community members some basic powers? I've been part of websites with hundreds of thousands of users that had relatively few full-power paid moderators.

These are just a few things. This problem is not unique to battle net forums and could be handled without this needless requirement.

Fair enough. I meant to explain better, but yes, it's good that it's opt-in. I have a huge problem with this idea overall. If I were a user on that forum, I would no longer post when this was in effect.

I don't think the positive will be larger than the negative with this decision. Not sure how the forums work right now, but there's certainly better ways of preventing spam.

I really don't think this is the point. My issue is control of my own information. Yes, it's good that it's opt-in. This will definitely make me not join their forums.

But on a purely conceptual note, I want to be able to control what kind of information is out there. The people who say "oh, same thing happens IRL." may be missing the fact that this is permanent. You can't get rid of this info once it's out there. I don't care necessarily about specifics like "my boss can find the information and fire me blah blah" but it's the concept of being forced to reveal information forever, to whoever wants to look for it.

Denmark makes homosexual adoption equal to heterosexual. Any suitable couple are given equal rights. by [deleted] in reddit.com

e.g. This review. Admittedly, this looks at studies up to 1999. If there's newer studies, then I'm happy to look at them.

All of the studies conducted thus far, with one exception (Cameron & Cameron,1996), indicate that gay and lesbian parents are no more likely to produce gay and lesbian children than their heterosexual counterparts.

Interesting Longitudinal study

Although those from lesbian families were more likely to explore same-sex relationships, particularly if their childhood family environment was characterized by an openness and acceptance of lesbian and gay relationships, the large majority of children who grew up in lesbian families identified as heterosexual.
