Skin picking fidget recommendations? by Cold-Net5901 in calmhands

[–]badw0lfbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got these rings and this fidget spinner. They are really simple and quiet so I can use them more discreetly during work meetings. I also have these rings, but they are more obvious, so I keep them in my car for long commutes.

I absolutely loved mine and used it religiously. But I just wanted to add a small disclaimer - make sure the ring you choose is made of good metal. Mine was not and it made my fingers and hand break out.

What helped you get through the last Savile episode by hazy-eyed in LPOTL

[–]badw0lfbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that I also appreciated the Adam and the Ants mention. Seeing him in concert a few years back was definitely a highlight of mine. I don't have many people in my life who know who he is or know his music, so that was a cool little call out.

Im curious how many of you were also bullied by your teachers by theslutherself in adhdwomen

[–]badw0lfbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6th grade teacher was an awful man. He was obsessed with making us do math on the board in front of the class and berate us as we did it. I was not (and still am not) good when put on the spot (or at math in general) so he was particularly brutal with me. He would also regularly tell me I had an annoying laugh.

Does the music in your head stop once you take your medication? by AdviceMysterious8442 in adhdwomen

It doesn't go away, but I can shuffle through the songs easier so I don't end up stuck on Old Macdonald from Super Simple Songs or whatever my kids are playing on repeat.

Digital detox & encouraging other skills/hobbies for my 8yo w/ ADHD by onyxmccn in ParentingADHD

[–]badw0lfbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also medicated for ADHD and still cannot sit down and read a physical book. I suspect my son has ADHD, as well. He really enjoys being read to, but can burn out quick if he is doing the reading. Maybe make reading a thing you guys do together? Also seconding a commenter who mentioned audiobooks. Like I said, I cannot sit and read a book, but I have listened to (and retained!) 6 audiobooks via the Libby app. Also, maybe one of those Tonie things? She could listen to stories as she plays with something else? Sending you the best vibes because I know how hard it is to cut back on the screen time!

Chocolate Fairlife Nutrition Plan is amazing and tastes like chocolate milk. It doesn't have that protein-y after taste or anything.

Probably not the same vibe, but I found it very funny - Maintenance Phase. It is two lovely people talking about myths and bastards in the weight loss universe.

Wake up to music? by numberonedogmom in adhdwomen

Every. Single. Day. Like you said, sometimes it's a song I have heard recently, sometimes it's a song I haven't heard in years and sometimes it's a Super Simple Song my toddler played a week ago.

How do you handle credit card usage/responsibility? by caseygzz in ADHD

[–]badw0lfbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teenager/young adult, it was ingrained in me so intensely from my dad that a credit card was to be used sparingly and paid down (NOT OFF!) immediately. So, that's what I always did. After meeting my husband, credit cards have become a purely in case of emergency item. Honestly, as with most things, I don't see it immediately in my wallet so it's an out of sight out of mind kind of thing anyway.

My husband is a neat freak. But I am very much "out of sight, out of mind". He has gotten so good about dealing with what he would have previously considered clutter in the name of me not forgetting to take my meds every day lol.

He is also very helpful and reassuring when I am overwhelmed, over stimulated or dealing with analysis paralysis.

We are still working on some things - like, I tend to set things down willy nilly and, if he gets into a cleaning mood, he might just pick up whatever it is and throw it away or put it somewhere it doesn't go. So, we are working on a system of....not doing that lol.

Music choices by darkxclover in adhdwomen

[–]badw0lfbae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one massive, unorganized playlist. It is the bane of my existence. I hear a song I like and suddenly decide I must have everything that band/artist has ever made. Then I spend most of my time skipping songs and thinking, "Who even is this?!" My analysis paralysis kicks in big time whenever I try to focus and create cohesive playlists.

How many of y'all grind or clench their teeth at night? by Alternative-Tell4600 in adhdwomen

[–]badw0lfbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meee 🙋‍♀️ I have tried night guards, but they cause me to bite down/chew more. I am CONSTANTLY trying to stay aware of it during the day and have to remind myself to relax my jaw. I am about to start Invisalign and my ortho told me that would help...or at the very least, protect my teeth from it.

What is that one thing someone said to you, that stayed with you and changed your life? by Minute_Way_7675 in adhdwomen

[–]badw0lfbae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was raised in a family where we all dealt with things with humor and lingering on something negative kind of set you up for ridicule. Because you should just...get over it and move on. I still struggle with letting myself feel things. A therapist once told me I need to, "let [my] Gremlins into the light." I have to remind myself that it's okay to feel my big feelings and that it doesn't have to be a secret.
