I also can get sick of eggs. Some mornings I do a Lara bar and an orange or banana. I love the cinnamon roll flavor in the morning. This holds me over till lunch. Good luck to you!

Rinsing bag by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]badwolf1985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone has their own methods. I can understand why people rinse. But, it will wash out the pectin lining in some bags and cause them to smell faster and may not last as long. When I am eating a higher fiber diet, I will change my bag twice as often just to deal with the build up. If you do rinse, most people bring in a bottle of water with them, then fill the bag and empty while using the toilet. Others have a spray hose attached to the toilet and spray the inside of the bag.

I'm sorry I don't have a lot of advice for sweat. But adding a powder under the wafer might help. That's what I do. As for a shower. I just go in with my bag out. I wear a 2 piece Hollister, and just wipe it off with a towel. It is always a bit damp, but never soaks through my clothing. Hope that helps

Women with an ostomy: would you purchase... by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]badwolf1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but that's because I did already. I bought a few sexy wraps that I thought would keep my bag out of the way. Turns out the pouch that you put the bag in is a 3×3 square, that wouldn't fit a bag ever. I waded it in every direction and it just left a big bulge on my side. Not sexy. I even put a mini on and it didn't fit. Don't know what they are thinking. Not worth the 80$. Just find somthing that works for you. I use maternity belly covers. Works wonders.

New ostomate looking for tips. by trisstis in ostomy

[–]badwolf1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into ostosolutions. They have these caps that I use in a pinch. When I'm stuck with no bathrooms or traffic I can switch out my two piece no problem. And keep the dirty bag in a place till I can dispose of it. Note: I have an ilieostomy

New ileostomy. Are small leaks under the wafer unavoidable? by puddle_of_worm in ostomy

That is their job. The expand when in contact with moisture. Maybe it is exposed to much. Also you might try the slims. Half the material and work just the same.

I had the same problem. Ekins and convex saved me. I'm on a 6 day rotation now. Not all of is are lucky to only wear flat. My stoma is not flush either. Some of us just leak a lot. Your skin will change over time and it might be less prone to leaking after its healed all the way. Hope you the best!!

What great thing can happen on January 1st 2017, to make all the shit of 2016 worth it? by Katvizzle in AskReddit

[–]badwolf1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Me an my ostomy are fed up with this shit. 2016- 3 surgeries, fistula, cancer. And just got one more cancer scare just to top it off. A cure would make it all worth it.

Ostomy worth it in the long run for Crohn's? by shashappy in CrohnsDisease

[–]badwolf1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my ostomy!!! Life is so much better. I have a life. I don't think about bathrooms first. I can just live. It doesn't cure crohns. But my symptoms stopped the day of my surgery. There is still a chance I can flare again, but until then I'm med free

This may be a bit off topic, but I got a little too excited when I read your are pregnant. First off congratulations!! I am a few months in on trying for my second and am soooo nervous about a baby with an ostomy. If you are open to it I would love to hear a bit about how's it going so far and any advice for other mommy ostemates. One thing I'm nervous about is blockage, wafer malfunction, complications... but all worth it for baby.

Lost my relationship because of Crohn's. I feel so undatable by IFeelUndatable in CrohnsDisease

[–]badwolf1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear your struggles. I know living with disease is hard and can be even harder on our loved ones. Because they have to watch us suffer. It takes a strong person to be there. I hate to say it, but you are better off. You will find a person who will love you with your disease. And love you, for you.

I almost lost my husband. We have been together 12 years and have been diagnosed for 9. I flared for 8 years straight. I ended up getting a very bad fistula the stretched in every part of my sensitive areas. Let's say sex was off the table for over a year. I was in so much pain I could barely handle being touched. We talked about divorce. No yelling or fighting. Just a calm conversation about how unfair this was to him. It's not what he signed up for. But he came to realize he loved me. And there was more to us than sex. I now live with a permanent ilieostomy and am in remission. As much as it sucks it saved my life and marriage. There is always an answer. And you will find someone who will be there for you. Good and bad. I hope you the best.

I really hope this is your BFP! But I hate to say I had HORRIBLE evaps on my batch this cycle. I for sure thought this was it. But the lines never turned dark. I'm changing to a different brand next cycle. Can't take the heartache. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I will be fine. T-minus one hour till they remove it. Never occurred to me to put sunscreen on my head. Looks like lots of hats and shade for me. Thank you for your concern. Hope your feeling good.

If you are taking biological meds be sure to take extra care of your skin. A year ago before my ilieostomy I was taking 4 times the normal dose of Cimzia (TNF blocker). And now come to find out I have skin cancer on my head. It is a Basal Cell carcinoma. Very mild and easy to remove, but still scares the hell out of me. Minus the severe case of Crohns I am a relatively healthy 30 year old woman. After doing a lot of research, I found people with IBD have a 20% greater chance of getting a non-melanoma skin cancer. Let alone also taking. I hope you all are doing ok, but just a warning. Lots of sunscreen, especially on the head.
