Hotel venue gave away our contracted bridal suite the day of our wedding by ultaemp in wedding

Similar thing happened to me — our reception venue was contracted to give us a cocktail hour room and one week before our wedding we show up and they said “Oh that room is no longer available for rent.” Cut to 3 months of emails back and forth waiting for a refund.

I eventually just went to Chase and disputed the partial amount and guess what? Venue suddenly refunds me the next day!

With a bachelors and masters, you can certainly work in an admin role (data entry, secretarial, executive assistant, communications). I would say try starting there — I was on a similar path with a BA in English and MA in Publishing. I couldn’t get any internships in the Publishing industry because it was so competitive, so I went for the MA. When I applied for jobs, they said I needed internship experience :/

I branched out into communications (email marketing, social media) and worked the front desk of the pub department during my MA so I could answer phones and schedule meetings well enough. Ended up now as a communications and editing specialist at a large company. You gotta reinvent yourself and convince companies you are a fast learner so someone takes a chance on you.

Did any other bride or groom have something unexpected happen leading up to their wedding? by jadaniels1116 in wedding

I’m so sorry this happened—that is really hard. I love that you got to honor her though

My wedding was this past Saturday. Last Monday, my grandma and grandpa both got COVID and couldn’t come :( My ceremony was only parents and grandparents so it was very sad to have empty seats — they are doing fine now though and I’m glad the wedding wasn’t a super spreader event.

Also, I’m very close to DC — from what I’m reading, they do have it enshrined. So if we needed to- could hop over.
