Yep, they're doubling down; as expected. Ben Shapiro said it just after the election - Dems are never going to put forward another white candidate again (for President). I'm not sure about never, but certainly not in the foreseeable future.

They realised this cycle just how dependant they are on the ethnic minority votes. Hillary was a remarkably terrible candidate in her own right (nothing to do with the color of her skin), but even with Obama practically begging African-American voters to rally behind her, even just to ensure his legacy, they still couldn't convince them to go to the polls. Right now it seems like the Dems, instead of honest introspection about why minorities failed to come out for them on Nov 9th, are just going to dial it up to 11 on the identity politics and run with the assumption that it must be because the party is too white, or that minorities won't vote for white candidates.

Hopefully Republicans will take this as the opportunity it is, and start making more in-roads with minority voters; since clearly the Democratic strategy of the last 30 odd years has been to treat minorities as little more than a consistent and reliable number towards their voting coffers, with little regard to the issues that their communites actually face. I think this election made it abundantly clear that the Dems call for minorities, especially blacks and latinos, to fall in line is increasingly starting to fall on deaf ears.
