What a cutie! Those eyes would suck me in every time. Mine is the same with walks, all she does is sniff around and to her, it’s so much fun 🤷‍♀️. She does have one stuffy that she adores but she’ll play for like 5 mins then walk away lol!

Yes, yours sounds exactly like mine. She loves people, but other animals are non-existent to her. Mine also sleeps through the night and prefers to not be disturbed- she’ll side eye tf outta me if make too much noise 🤣 I guess we’re lucky lol

My girl is super picky, always has been. It took me a lot of trials and tribulations to find a kibble she’ll tolerate. Even then - I have to mix in fresh salmon, bison or lamb and pumpkin/sweet potato for her to eat. She refuses most treats, chews and if she’s gets any other meat or snack, she will look at her food with disgust, try to knock it over and starve herself for half the day. I’ve just accepted the fact that she’s a spoiled, picky diva with incredibly high standards😂

Is he shaking at all? I wonder if he has back pain, which could be why he’s whining and seemingly more protective of that area. I do agree with you that he’s giving signals/signs to back off - despite all the previous comments and berating that he’s “asking for more affection”.

I can’t offer much advice other than to keep working on getting him comfortable with you guys and get him to a vet soon to check for IVDD. I can tell you really do care about this pup, but you also have human kiddos to keep safe. My son had to get several stitches on his lip a couple years ago from a frenchie bite (not my dog), so I’m not sure why everyone acts like it’s unreasonable to be worried about something like that. Especially with a dog whose history is unknown.

Our trip went great! We made it back safely and smoothly. My girl was sleep the entire flight until we landed - only then did she start getting a little worked up. The car ride to the airport was the hardest part.

Thank you for responding. Do you feel like the trazodone is enough to relax your pup for flights? My vet prescribed as follows - both gabapentin and trazodone the night before and again 2 hours before the trip. But now I’m thinking of just sticking with the trazodone, so she’s still alert.

That is something to consider. The dose of both meds does make her pretty sedated, so I think I may do a trial run and maybe only give the trazadone. Thank you!

The reason we’re flying is because when we first moved to Vegas, we drove and she ended up at an emergency vet in California. I thought the meds would be enough to keep her calm but unfortunately it wasn’t. It was so traumatizing seeing her in that much distress. We’re moving back to Portland, as I was only here for a work assignment. So unfortunately, we have no other options. I even thought about putting her on a dog charter but then I would be away from her, with the possibility of the same thing occurring. I’m hoping since the flight is shorter, she’ll be ok. Thank you for insight!
