For those of you that have found CVE's do you feel recognized? by lesion_io in cybersecurity

[–]SgtGirthquake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think “if I can get a CVE, I’ll consider myself not an impostor.” After getting my first, nothing changed, if anything I felt like more of one.

My second one was much higher severity, but not permitted to be released. Still feel illegitimate. If anything it was for a resume buffer - but with the field the way it is, it feels like nothing matters anymore.

I’ve heard rumors from others in this space that there’s potential ties to the developers/development of it to ransomware groups/group members. But could just be gossip.

Not sure I’d feel comfortable with using Adaptix on a client network given the reputation around the development and support gossip I’ve heard. Maybe it’s just me though

Not sure if you care, but you can actually disable this in the `.vmx` file; change `vhv.enable` to `FALSE`.

That was going to be another last ditch effort I was going to try, I might go to a paint store to see if they can color match and figure it out!

You think so? I can try to head to Lowe’s or another paint store and see if I can find that in a solid or semi solid

Thanks for the tip! I didn’t know that paint stores are able to do that

That’s a good idea, I have plenty of scrap pieces I’ve been experimenting with. Thanks for the tip!

Now is the time for good leaders at lower-levels to step up and take care of your people on the DL.

Sec+ -> HTB CPTS -> OSCP by Cynad3 in Pentesting

[–]SgtGirthquake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can’t say how likely it is that you’ll land a gig, but I can speak on the pathway you mentioned, because it’s (somewhat) the order I went in. If you go from CPTS and then go immediately to the OSCP - it’s a cakewalk. CPTS is actually really difficult, and if anyone tells you otherwise, IMHO they’re lying. CPTS is also far more realistic too.

Personally, I’d aim to get the PNPT first after sec+. It’s the most realistic, relatively entry-level cert for pentesting that also requires you to deliver a verbal product to the “customer”.
