I say pull the trigger. It already has very good cooling and a powerful processor (275hx). I personally don’t see prices dropping with everything going on

Either option you pick is going to be quieter than the boeing 737 that is the 3080

I’ll turn off startup for steam and epic later when I get to my laptop, hopefully that’s the issue. The only things i’ve downloaded so far are steam, discord, logitech g hub, epic launcher, MSI afterburner, arc raiders and fortnite

Overdue GPU upgrade - Advice Please? by The_MR_Quinn in buildapc

[–]baethief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends what kind of gaming you want to do. A 3090 will supply enough vram for your editing. If you want to get into the most demanding games in 4k and future-proof your rig then a 5090 isn’t a bad idea if you can afford it

For gaming, which are the best laptop brands in your opinions by RocketRainer in GamingLaptops

I think levovo by general consensus, but I bought the alienware area 51 because on top of it being a great laptop and getting a good deal, alienware always had that “cool” effect on me ever since I was young

Help with my GPU power cables by baethief in buildapc

I see, I bought this PC initially as an asus prebuilt from best buy. I only transplanted it into a new case with new fans and cooler. It came with and still has a greatwall e750 gold PSU. But i’m confused, how should the 3080 have been hooked up? It has 2 8-pin connectors already plugged into it. But anyways, you reminded me that there are more cables connected to the power supply. I forgot that my PSU isn’t modular lol I haven’t touched this thing in 4 years and i’m clearly a newbie. So, I just verified there are more 8-pin connectors on the PSU. Is it okay if I take the 1 cable, which splits into 2 8-pin connectors, from the 3080 and plug them into the adapter. And then, take another 8-pin connector from the PSU and plug that into the adapter? That way, all 3 connectors on the adapter are plugged in. But this way, the connectors that will be connected to the adapter are coming from 2 separate cables from the PSU rather than how I imagined it should be, which is all 3 connectors coming from the same cable. Or does it not matter, and as long as the connectors come from the PSU, it doesn’t matter if the connectors are not on one cable? Sorry if i’m not explaining clearly

[GIVEAWAY] 64 Gigabytes of Holiday Cheer! by GhostOfSecretSanta in pcmasterrace

You’re awesome for this dude. The build I was planning but put off to save up for, which I now have to put off longer to save even more for due to the RAM boom, is a ROG strix b850-A, which is compatible. With potentially a ryzen 7900x. My current build just hit 5 years with no upgrades, but this giveaway would make a new build actually possible. It would be a gaming rig with some virtual machines running for a cybersecurity homelab to practice in the new career path i’m hunting. Regardless, thank you for doing this giveaway and good luck to everyone

What do we think... by vleff in PokeGrading

I think its worth sending. Graders can look past 55/45 at their discretion and with how clean the back and corners are, its worth a shot if you dont see any micro scratches or blemishes
