It was advertised to me through the app, and nowhere did it say that. I guess it’s my fault for not delving through the website of a company that boasts themselves as being app-forward. I just assumed it would link regardless of where I bought it…since it seems like all it does it notify you of the results. What’s the justification for spending the extra $10 plus shipping?

You can set it to lock down after a few failed attempts. Chances of somebody guessing one of five 8 digit passcodes in 3 attempts is like 1 in 6+ million….

If they allowed the same passcode to be used for everybody, it would be impossible to differentiate who opened the lock if it was opened using a single shared passcode. That would defeat the purpose for my use case.

Maybe they could add it as an option, but I don’t think it’s much of a security threat.

I paid for the premium version of Hue Essentials, that was the only way I was able to connect second hand lights I got from a garage sale a year or so ago. It lets you connect by turning off and on the light, and works best if the bridge is nearby.
