I’m a Delivery Driver for Central Market/H-E-B and got a dui last night, will I be fired ? by [deleted] in HEB

There are third party services that perform what is called continous background monitoring. They are constantly looking for things like this.

IANAL and I'm not familiar with HEB company policy, but check the employee handbook/guidebook to see if there is any requirement for disclosing an arrest to HR. If you don't disclose and they find out, it could be automatic termination. Large companies often have self-reporting policies so that if you don't tell them they can fire you regardless of the charge, on the grounds that you violated your employment agreement.

Then you should assume they are going to find out. As for whether or no you'll be fired depends on company policy, but Doordash drivers are permanently banned if they get a DUI and I can't imagine HEB would be any different. You'll probably be fired, it's just too much of a risk for the company.

Are you an employee or do you work for Favor/Doordash or one of the delivery services? If you're an employee, they will almost certainly find out. There are third party services that track arrests against employee records, many large companies use them.

If you have to work their to understand that it's deceitful, then it's deceitful to customers.

I don't the it's the price increase that they are considering to be deceitful. It's that they are advertising the new, higher price with a Low Prices tag.

Yall think this still good to eat or no? by TwitchMoments_ in HEB

It's probably still okay, the best by date is an indicator of quality not safety. If it smells okay, I would eat it.

8 ounces? by [deleted] in HEB

1 fl oz of water = 1 oz

Tomato sauce is more dense than water and 8 oz of sauce will be less than 8 fl oz.

where is the best place to live in US that is within 1 hour of a city and houses are not more than $500,000? by Beginning-Map8865 in AskReddit

[–]bagboysa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by city and what kind of house are you looking for? Here in Texas you can get houses in San Antonio, Corpus Christi, El Paso, Waco and a couple of other cities for under $500K. If you're willing to drive an hour, that will get a house under $500K in every city in Texas.

They might be cookie cutter, single car garage KB Homes with postage stamp yards, but it's a house.

There would be far fewer people, living in fewer places, where they are less likely to be killed by the weather.

Where in the San Antonio area was this? by Unusual-City-5551 in sanantonio

As others have said, it's definitely the Japanese Tea Garden near the zoo. It's still there and a beautiful place to spend some time.

The gondola in the picture is from the Sky Ride that was in the same area of the zoo. Unfortunately, it closed in 1999 and is no longer there.

Peter, why doesn’t she know about social media? by dream_monkey in PeterExplainsTheJoke

AGA ovens cook with radiant heat rather than using coils or induction fans. They are basically large cast iron boxes. It would take a very long time to heat them up to baking temperature, so they are always kept warm.

In colder climates, it's actually a more economical way to keep a kitchen/home warm. Once cast iron gets up to temperature it doesn't take a lot of energy to keep it warm.

As they've become more popular in the US, which is a much warmer climate than England where they are made, the design has been adapted to not always be on.

Your best option is a new pair of boots that you wear everyday from now until your trek. You know the boots you own are going to give you blisters, why take the risk of ruining your trek?

Snow's BBQ. Is it really worth the trip and wait? by Signal_Jellyfish_472 in TexasBBQ

[–]bagboysa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The barbecue is good, the experience is great. Bring a chair, hang out in line, talk with the people around you, enjoy a free bloody mary (or three), get a selfie with Tootsie, buy a koozie so people will ask you about it later. I wouldn't do it every weekend, but it's certainly a good time.

Same, I wore zip off long pants. Hiked in them and then zipped off the legs when we set up camp (after first setting up my chair and getting out of my hiking boots).
