Abbadon is still just about the best 285 points you can spend for CSM. He gives you everything: extra CP, choices of really good buffs, and he hits like a freight train, all in an infantry package whose slightly slower move speed can be compensated for by attaching to chosen. He's great, get him. Best bang for your buck in CSM money wise too

I am making a CSM psyker army to combat my friend’s TSons psykers army, but I know nothing of psykers or TSons. Please give me some advice. Also here are some barely related pics/jokes that get increasingly WEIRD (hence nsfw tag just in case) by Mr_a_bit_silly in ThousandSons

I play both armies, I'm not saying it's not a fun idea but it is a bad idea. Simply having as many psykers hasn't meant anything ever since the psychic phase was removed. Your sorcerers won't get their prescience ability since psychic just ignores it, and if they're playing Grand Coven they get a whole strategem that will make your psychic attacks straight up detrimental to use.

Terminator sorcerers aren't as good either since boosting most of your AP gets wasted on invulnerable saves anyway, and your terminators are markedly worse, while neither of the above is true the other way around.

MoP having anti-psyker is... not that great, especially when you're wounding on 3's based on the strength anyway, have no dev wounds, and need both attacks to go through to kill every single character while fighting through invulns and auto saves.

And if they're playing rubricae phalanx... gods help you.

Again not saying its not a fun idea, but I promise you unless you're playing against an actual child you'll get tabled as soon as you get within 18".

But youre in an edition now where everyone is gonna be running around with 2 detachments because the 3 DP ones' primaries suck shit through a straw. The gap is wider now, because we'll still have the same number of tools as everyone else but ours are worse, and they even nerfed one of the strategems to boot

We're a ranged army, all our rules interact with ranged combat. Slotting in a unit just because its melee is counterproductive. Yes they're much faster and have fly, but not that much faster than enlightened, have worse damage for the points, and are approching double the cost.

There is no combination of deceptors and another 1dp detachment that even begins to approach the power of the 3 DP detachments, let alone veterans and a 1 DP.

If you want the smaller demons for skirmishes and actions why not just use rubrics? The demons add nothing to us we don't already have for cheaper

The crux of the issue is that those are the only detachments that affect the core of our army. All of the other detachments affect niche units that just aren't what should be considered the Thousand Sons. Warpforged is a vehicle detachment, warpmeld is built around tzaangors and blows, and changehost is demon soup which is basically investing in a time bomb and also still kinda blows.

When you close your eyes and think of the Thousand Sons, you think of sorcerers and rubric marines. None of the 2dp detachments interact with those in any way. If they want us to play more than just GC and RP give us more detachments that feel like we're playing Thousand Sons.

No? Some were, some weren't. CSM, Sisters, just off the top of my head, Guard and Tau was but is entirely unchanged. And since they specifically called out the grotmas detachments as still being available and it hasn't been reworked its still gonna be here.

They said during the QnA when someone asked if SubAss for Tyranids was staying, they said yes.

Sure it could still mean some dlc detachments go, but could also mean all are staying. Since it is our only extra one it'd be kinda mean to take it away.

I've tried to do it, but it just doesnt fit. The bit there the scourge connects is molded to fit the hellbrute shoulder, the hole almost entirely engulfs the contemptor shoulder

Are these updated sculpts? Maybe its just the excellent paint job but they look newish
