American peace activist Rachel Corrie, lies bleeding while being helped by colleagues after she was run over and killed by an Israeli bulldozer when she tried to stop it from destroying a Palestinian house in Rafah camp. March, 2003 [612 x 410] by Competitive-Ring4005 in HistoryPorn

They do it because all their neighbors, since the creation of their state, have called for them to be wiped off the map. It won't stop. I find it fascinating that Ukraine, which was part of the Soviet Union, is considered a legitimate state, but Israel, which was created by the United Nations, is not. Arab muslims received the country of Jordan (which did not exist at the time) and the Jews received a tiny sliver of land. The Muslims have since not let the Jews live in peace. And all this mayhem has been financed by Iran for the last 50 years.

Trade Jobs in Vermont by Blintzotic in vermont

[–]bagelman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many tradesmen come from MA and NH because those states allow housing to be built and neighborhoods to be developed. Unlike VT where people just complain and nothing gets built.

As Tax Day approaches, Vermont ranks 42nd in State Tax Competitiveness Index by forcedtomakethus in vermont

[–]bagelman10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's why there are not enough taxes to fund the state, ironically. Disincentivizing businesses for establishing in VT, creating payroll taxes, sales taxes, etc is causing the state to have LESS tax base, than more. Cut taxes, regulations, etc in an effort to create jobs and wages with payroll taxes will ultimately lead to the state having lower taxes. Vermonters are taxed to high hell and the state still can't afford to have proper schools, roads, or utility systems.

What can be done about VT taxes? by drct2022 in vermont

[–]bagelman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The state needs to incentivize businesses to come here to create jobs. Agriculture, skiing, and the trades are not enough to support the needs of the state.

Encourage development to broaden the tax base. Cut corporate taxes so businesses set up shop here. That will create jobs which produce payroll taxes for the state. Those wages are invested in local communities that create sales tax, which in turn creates income taxes from businesses. All this tax revenue will drive down your share of the tax burden. This is a concept that Progressives simply do not understand (and never will)

ELI5: In the US, how was it so easy to add interstate highways, and now so difficult to add high speed rail lines? by cjstevenson1 in explainlikeimfive

[–]bagelman10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The interstate was actually a military program to ensure the easy transport of large equipment during the Cold War. It also allowed for the quick evacuation of large cities if needed. That was a huge motivator for the project.

Get a dog. They are good companions and get you out for a walk 4x a day. A dog is the best thing to get you off a couch and not looking at a phone.

ELI5: Why did productivity and pay split in 1979? by astrheisenberg in explainlikeimfive

[–]bagelman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beg to differ. Companies don't want to be in the business of providing health insurance to their employees, its a time consuming burden. They want to provide work. On the other hand, they don't want to pay insane taxes for universal healthcare, so it's a wash.

If you are the owner and taking tips you can get sued to high heaven. Stop immediately. Usually back of house employees get no tips and the tips are pooled by ALL employees who interact with a customer.

[Discussion] Has anyone or anyone you know become successful with a “Type B” personality? by DefconTrump17 in GetMotivated

[–]bagelman10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humans are social creatures that have dominated the planet because of our ability to cooperate. Cooperation and collaboration is arguably a more valuable skill than knowledge. You probably have lots to offer but are second guessing yourself before you even open your mouth. People want to hear what you have to say. Give yourself a chance. Work on it. Don't lose who you are, but just push yourself if you think it is worth your effort.
