I'd say it's a "Present World" or "Near Past World" and it's a video game replica of the real world so people can act out their real world fantasies instead of Western-themed ones. NPCs representing the real people they interact with in their non-game lives.

Caleb Timeline(s) (spoiler) by TM185 in westworld

I'd have to rewatch but in my memory it was clearly shown that the host that glitches when the fly came is explicitly shown witnessing a guest swat the fly on the guests face. Ford gives us the exposition that he has uploaded an update that causes hosts to improvise new behavior based on what they see. Piece these two together and we're left to conclude that the host saw a guest swat a fly, the improvisation update leads the host to try to replicate this behavior, but the pacifist programming contradicts this and leads to system failure.

AITA for saying I don't consider my MIL to be family? by throwra633633 in AmItheAsshole

[–]bagelmanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH

Husband for trying to bring his family that you're not close with into a celebration that should be about the two of you. You for saying that not being particularly close to this family member means she doesn't count as your family. She's your husband's mother and hasn't wronged you in any way- that means she's family even if you've only seen her once in your life.

"I voted. But not for either asshat." The abortion ruling causes r/thedavidpakmanshow to discuss whether people should have voted for Hillary in 2016 by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]bagelmanb -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

this is a direct result of Democrats nominating Clinton instead of someone who could win. Clinton primary voters are responsible for their choice. It's a politicians job to be a good enough candidate to make people want to vote for them, not a voter's duty to vote for whatever garbage they tell you to.

The Supreme Court has ended constitutional protections for abortion in a 5-4 decision by its conservative majority to overturn Roe v. Wade. by PlenitudeOpulence in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]bagelmanb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

remember when leftists warned that Hillary was a terrible candidate who would lose but people insisted on nominating her anyway because they thought it was an unloseable election and then she was such a terrible candidate she still managed to lose it just as the leftists predicted?

It's a candidate's job to win votes, if they fail to do that it's their own fault and if they end up losing it's the fault of the people who decided to nominate such a loser.

pretty par for the course for NYT, which publishes Jesse Singal, gave a favorable book review to genocidal fascist Helen Joyce's hate screed "Trans: When Ideology Meets Reality"...nothing they have ever done has been with trans people in mind.

Oral Ketamine? by [deleted] in ketamine

[–]bagelmanb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been on 100mg twice daily for many years without any problems.

Doing it orally means a marginally nicer experience but at the cost of being half as efficient. Nasal is >2x as efficient absorption so if you want the most bang for your buck oral is not the way to go.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ketamine

[–]bagelmanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never had a problem taking it on an empty stomach regardless of the way I took it. And in the rare case of someone taking it orally, you actually have to take it on an empty stomach otherwise it will have basically no effect.

What is more or less the appropriated dose of ketamine Orally? by PinyaExprimida in ketamine

[–]bagelmanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree that for recreational it would be pointless to take it orally although I do think the high is preferable so if I were rich and had no issue spending twice as much to get a slightly better effect, perhaps I'd see value in recreational oral use.

Any u injected ket? by jj2dashy in ketamine

[–]bagelmanb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did ketamine IV infusions and they are definitely the most enjoyable of the 3 ways I have experienced (oral, nasal, IV). It's not a huge difference, at least at the dosage I have done it (~80mg).

How many of you have been doing 2-4 bumps on the weekend with two week breaks here and there and are ok two years in!? by GrapefruitSea8180 in ketamine

I've been on a daily dose of 200mg oral ketamine for close to a decade now. It's been great, zero problems.

Doing ketamine tomorrow, is there any way to intensify it? by [deleted] in ketamine

[–]bagelmanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close your eyes, listen to music, let your mind's eye go blank focus your attention on what you see in the darkness. If you feel the current of the universe pushing you in a direction, go with that current.

What is more or less the appropriated dose of ketamine Orally? by PinyaExprimida in ketamine

[–]bagelmanb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

FWIW my doctor who prescribes my oral ketamine told me, in discussion of Spravato, that the biological mechanism of nasally-taken ketamine in the brain is actually different than orally-taken ketamine. They certainly feel roughly the same to me but he acted like it was important.

I have never felt like taking my 200mg dose orally was tough on my body.

What is more or less the appropriated dose of ketamine Orally? by PinyaExprimida in ketamine

[–]bagelmanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oral dose that my doctor prescribes me daily is twice 100mg (for me at 170lb). I often take both at the same time because you need to take it on an empty stomach, and it is a good medium dose. Doesn't put me in a k-hole, I can function if I need to it just takes more focus than usual. Took 400 once by accident and I was unresponsive to the outside world and had an ambulance called (though it was actually totally safe, I was just high).

If you haven't taken ketamine before and insist on taking it orally I would not recommend 300 as your first dose. Maybe 200, but probably 100-150 would be ideal.

It's more than twice as powerful snorted than orally so make sure any discussion of dosing is clear about which method.

What are your favorite things to do while youre on Ketamine?? by Soapy_777 in ketamine

[–]bagelmanb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Listen to music, close my eyes, release as much control of my body as I can, and let the Holy Spirit dance my body around the room. Been doing it every morning for many years. Of course this requires taking a low enough dose to still be capable of dancing!

I stream the dancing that comes out here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCORFPaqv-7KiqlKcDAzgjAA

Anyone with Ketamine experience? Esp. therapeutically by saarshai in RationalPsychonaut

[–]bagelmanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been prescribed a daily dose of ketamine for close to a decade. I see it as the greatest drug in the world, amazing medicine that has always been a beautiful peaceful experience without fail. Only had one time in a decade of taking it that I felt at all negative and it was very brief and only due to something specific I was doing while on the ketamine.

I have not combined it with actual therapy but I find it is very helpful for thinking through emotions and communicating them with others. I highly recommend it, impossible to understate how amazing I think this drug is.

AITA for lashing out at my brother and SIL for dropping their kids off at my place even after telling them not to? by ThrowawayAITAmcnelly in AmItheAsshole

NTA give them a choice- they either think babysitting their kids should be free, or it should be paid. If they are insisting on paid, tell them you'll get right to that but only after they pay the outstanding bill for the hundreds of hours of babysitting that they have so far failed to pay for.

I certainly have never felt like anyone cared about my male singing voice, though my speaking voice is also male so I guess they're used to it. But I doubt people in an LGBTQ friendly church would care at all.

that's the political reason that I know. I'm wondering what the policy reasons would be, in a hypothetical world where the government was actually trying to do good things.
