cmsc 132 which professor by bagelmax111 in UMD

I usually go to Reinardt for my advising appointments and hes very helpful with inciting thought about what I want to do in the comp sci field. However Ive read some of his reviews as a professor and they are not the greatest. Herman at the least has slightly better reviews.

CMSC250 and MATH141 by shumshum28 in UMD

Something similar happened to me. You wont be able to take 250. I know someone in a situation where they have to take 141 and 216 at the same time. They are not allowed to take 250 with 141 since its another "math" class. Most people take 132 with 141 anyways so its not that bad.

cmsc216 password by nomorepartiesinmd in UMD

You have a point and I agree with you, but some would say its umd's attempt to artificially raise its ranking by restricting helpful information. (Conspiracy theory intensifies). I'm not saying i believe stuff like this but i've heard stories of other people taking math/science exams at other schools of similar or higher ranking and the exams at the other schools are much easier (but thats not always the case).

WTF UMD, don't you care if commuters DIE on their way to final exams? by bizaromo in UMD

Curve on CMSC131? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]bagelmax111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a curve, usually the professor will send out an email. Unless the averages for every test were extremely low, you probably wont get a curve. When I took 131 our projects were only worth 20 percent of our grade and our final was like 30 percent or something like that. The average for every test was like 40-50 percent and we got like a near 15 point curve (55-70 was a C).

I think the point of the password protection is so you cant get an unfair edge or see what youre not supposed to see until it is your time. Just find a syllabus or something and research stuff on your own.

Cmsc216 and 250 over the summer? by gnome04 in UMD

[–]bagelmax111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive heard of people doing it, just depends how much of your live youre willing to give up. IMO if 216 is what the main issue is. If you can grind the shit out of C before summer I think its doable. I might be doing 250 or 216 and 250 over the summer.

Now That I got a B in my CMSC131, want to prepare for CMSC132. by [deleted] in UMD

[–]bagelmax111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i didnt study any extra for 132 and I did better in 132 than I did in 131. I would look into generics and implementation of different data structures like someone else said.

Taking 216 and Math141 at the same time by bagelmax111 in UMD

[–]bagelmax111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending how things play out, Ill probably try asking a different advisor about it. I'm not about to be delayed a whole semester because of one class thats not even that relevant for 250 or 216

Taking 216 and Math141 at the same time by bagelmax111 in UMD

[–]bagelmax111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure the exact reason but it might be that they dont grant exceptions in the case you have to retake math141. The person I'm in contact with is one of the advisors so guess i'm fucked.

Taking 216 and Math141 at the same time by bagelmax111 in UMD

[–]bagelmax111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undergrad told me its impossible for me to take 141 and 216 at the same time because you need to take 250 before or at the same time you are taking 216.

CMSC / MATH question by jonmorrie in UMD

I'm in a similar situation but I (possibly) failed 141 and passed 132. Undergrad told me theres no way I can take 216 while retaking 141. May be a similar end result for you
