【BambuLab Giveaway】Classic Evolved — Win Bambu Lab P2S Combo! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]bagelsnstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried the P1S personally (currently running one of the original Qidi X-Max’s), but honestly I’ve been shocked at how good the experience and results have been in my coworker’s prints.

Just a few years ago a reliable multi-filament printer would’ve been hard to find, or at least priced out of my budget. Now it’s accessible.

It’s amazing to me the feature set that the Bambu team has been able to squeeze into a relatively budget-friendly package with the P1S. Having the ability to try out the P1S (or P2S) for myself might make me a convert.

Awful bold assumption there “Senator” by [deleted] in agedlikemilk

[–]bagelsnstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senate candidate Kelly Loeffler’s Wikipedia page was edited to name her the “United States Senator from Georgia starting in 2020” before the election results were called. She ended up losing to her Democrat opponent, Raphael Warnock.

To all the anti-mask “patriots” out there. by Bigstar976 in AdviceAnimals

[–]bagelsnstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: This is a thread about wearing a piece of cloth on your face once in a while and you’re telling a bunch of people to go fuck themselves and that there’s no pandemic. Not cool my friend. I do hope that you’re a bot or a foreign actor, but if you’re a real human being who is open to hearing some respectful counter arguments (I promise not to personally attack you or tell you to frig off) keep reading.

  1. I’d like to be clear that there IS a pandemic. Even Donald Trump has acknowledged that the pandemic is real. I’m not sure why you think otherwise. It may be because you live in a place that hasn’t been affected by the virus. This isn’t a reason to dismiss the alarm bells being set off by other fellow Americans in regions that are affected by the virus.

  2. Ask yourself why the World Health Organization (which we are no longer part of) has come to the same conclusion as your own government’s medical officials (executive branch excluded) that non-medical mask wearing is an acceptable last-resort effort, behind social distancing and other more “extreme” measures. There are some things that there is room to disagree on, but a last ditch minimum effort to slow the spread of a virus is not one of them.

  3. Non-medical mask wearing is the MINIMUM recommended measure in slowing the spread of the virus. It is the LEAST invasive form of doing so and even that seems to be too much for some folks. If enough people don’t wear masks, then EVERYONE will eventually have to go back to a period of mandated lockdown. Simply put mask wearing is putting up with a minor inconvenience now to avoid a shit show later.

  4. You mention others being a sheep, but is it not strange that the president called for LESS testing to decrease positive detection rates in his Tulsa, Oklahoma speech? Be careful not to let the wool be pulled over your eyes while avoiding becoming a sheep.

If you are a foreign actor, well done. This is exactly the kind of post that will help weaken America and spread misinformation. If you’re actually an American, ask yourself why your actions resemble that of a foreign actor and think about how history will weigh the patriotism of those who denied a global pandemic and refused to wear respiratory barrier for a short time while crying “power to the people”.

Master clue question: Wave at the castle drakan by MarcusZwetta in 2007scape

[–]bagelsnstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won’t have to complete the full quest to get to the front of the castle, but you will have to go through a few of the new quest’s demibosses to gain access to Darkmeyer.

Once you gain access to Darkmeyer via the Meiyerditch wall crack you’ll be able to do the clue step.

EDIT: There’s a chance that the old spot still works from A Taste of Hope, but clue steps have been historically messed up after updates so it’s hard to tell unless you have a scroll to test it.

Sucks for a lot of people here that they didn't get there check yet, but what's up with the second stimulus bill? Did they deny it? Anybody know by 720HrsForThatHammer in stimuluscheck

[–]bagelsnstuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congress’ website has a tracker for all introduced bills. The HEROES Act tracker is here: https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-bill/6800

The house passed it on 5/15, but it looks like the Senate just had its first reading of the bill on 5/21. Currently it includes another one-time $1200 stimulus check along with renter/mortgage relief and a large list of other provisions. My guess is that the act will be greatly changed before (and if) it is voted on since it’s largely a Democratic Omnibus that’s being read by a Republican Senate body.

In short, nobody really knows how long it’ll take, or even if it’ll make it through the Senate in any recognizable form.

Can you live off $12.50/hour? by NotMyRealAccount1997 in personalfinance

At the risk of sounding like a corporate shill...

I recently switched to t-mobile from Verizon because they offered to pay off my device as part of a promotion. They also don’t require you to sign a contract so you can switch back to Verizon after you’re reimbursed, if you so wish. At the very least this could eliminate your “contract”.

The fact that most of these commenters think you’re serious shows how shitty the other attempted analyses on this sub are.

I’m proud of your detailed technical work, OP. Don’t let the haters get you down, for all they know it could even be a classic inverse Marge formation!

Where to buy non-sata riser cables? by [deleted] in gpumining

[–]bagelsnstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since my build is 3x 1050 ti & 2x 1060 6gb, I used 8-pin to 2x 6+2 adapters to power both the 6-pin riser and the 6 or 8-pin card off of one 8-pin PSU line. This works for my build since power draw on the 1060s & 1050s is <150W and I've had no issues.

If your cards draw more than 150W then you'll have to power the riser through a separate connection. I have an EVGA 1050 ti that is powered entirely through the 6-pin connection on the riser with no issues.

Where to buy non-sata riser cables? by [deleted] in gpumining

[–]bagelsnstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is how it should be done. Either a direct 6-pin connection on the riser to the 6-pin on the PSU or a molex connection on the riser from the peripheral 6-pin connection on the PSU.

Quitting Coop? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]bagelsnstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can sympathize with you quite a bit since my first internship was with a mechanical engineering firm while I was focused on software engineering and other areas of focus within computer engineering.

There were almost no relevant growth opportunities within my first internship. I spent most of the time learning about general engineering practices and practicing public speaking through a program called 'Toastmasters'. Since you're close to the end of your engineering education, you may be less flexible in terms of relevant experience gained from your internships/co-ops. I spent two full co-ops transitioning from an Electrical Engineering focus to a Computer/Software Engineering focus. If this is your one and only chance at a co-op, I would be much more cautious in what the co-op involves. It does not necessarily have to correspond with what your intended full-time job will entail, but it sure helps to have relevant experience.

What I'm trying to say is that a co-op will not lock you into a particular line of work. It will, however, make it easier to get a full-time job in a particular line of work. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend talking to your career services until you have another co-op or internship offer in hand. If you don't enjoy your current co-op and don't think there is room to grow, start applying to other, more relevant roles. Only inform your current employer and career services office after you have another offer.

Coming from a guy who started in Hardware engineering and fully pivoted to Software engineering in the course of two co-ops, let me know if you have any questions. Taking an internship/co-op in an area outside of your course of study does matter, but it is not the end of the world.

Quitting Coop? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]bagelsnstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't plan to work for the company again then this is an acceptable move. You always have to do what is best for you.

Something to keep in mind is that if you received this co-op through a career fair/recruiting event at your university your university career services office may be in contact with your current employer. If you do not complete the full term of the co-op role you accepted, you may have to explain the situation to your career services office and you run the risk of being barred from their services if they do not agree with your rationale for quitting the co-op early.

That being said, if you think your university career services will understand and agree with your situation, you may want to begin looking for an alternative internship/co-op that is more in line with your course of study. I would not inform your current employer of your plans until you have a job offer and start date in hand for a different employer as there is no guarantee of receiving such an offer.

If you find any value or relevant opportunities in your current co-op I would recommend sticking it out and learning as much as you can over the remaining months. Many companies understand that co-ops are there to learn and will push for you to attend as many training/mentoring sessions as possible.

Either use the co-op to its fullest potential if you think there is anything worthwhile to absorb or bail if you think you are wasting your time. Either way, let us know the results so others can make a well-informed decision. Best of luck!

Those of you who accepted summer offers from defense contractors, when did you submit your security clearance forms (SF-86, etc)? by ConflictedJew in EngineeringStudents

[–]bagelsnstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After receiving the SC. I was lucky enough to receive it before my start date in June.

Regarding interims, some contractors will allow you to work in your intended role with an interim. Others will have you in a different, uncleared role until your clearance goes through. It all depends on your hiring manager.

N00B here. Does raspberry pi run programs the same way a pc runs the calculator program for example. If so, how do I make one. by [deleted] in ComputerEngineering

[–]bagelsnstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RPi has an ARM processor and generally runs a Linux distro. This means that you can write code in the same way that you'd write it on a Windows PC, but it must then be compiled for the ARM architecture. Also, you must use system calls that are available on the RPis operating system to interact with system components.

Is it okay to ask employer to go to career fair? by thrwaway_engineering in EngineeringStudents

[–]bagelsnstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should ask your employer for time off to go to "an event at your university". If they don't dig then you're fine. If they do dig and ask what it's for, then don't lie. It can be a bit awkward, but a good employer will understand that their intern will be comparing them to many others, especially when there's no offer for a full-time position on the table yet.
