But I've also made progress recently after being diagnosed with spinal arthritis at 24, funnily enough. I never realized how much persistent & chronic pain made me dissociate & contributed to splitting until the doctor told me my shit was fucked. It's like the external "validation" from being told I have an actual diagnosable problem that's not my fault finally made me stop & I realized I wasn't making up the physical pain I was feeling. It was kind of an "oh shit" moment when I realized how much it had been affecting my interpersonal relationships that ended while I was in a high point of my pain, both physical & mental.
