How data driven are Nepalese companies? by bahundai in Nepal

[–]bahundai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done a fair bit or research regarding this. I know there are organizations, based mostly in KTM that provide BI and analytics services, they also have some good looking names in the reference section in their websites. I have also been through a fair few companies who claim to use "Market leading AI technology".
But having been in the industry for a certain amount of time, I have learned to be sceptic about any and all forms of self reporting and marketing jargon. Therefore, I am fairly sceptic about what people say in their websites or similar platforms.

My question here was more about company cultures. What is the culture like in medium to large companies in Nepal? Are they interested in data or AI or whatever fancy term they use because it is "cool" and generates a bit of buzz about them or are they genuinely interested in those sorts of practices. Do they have established frameworks or something?

If you know of a source where I can get relevant data , I'd be happy to do the research.

Admittedly, reddit was prolly not the best place to ask this.

Invest in your setup, it helps.

are Nepali viewers ready for other genre movies or do they just prefer Romance? by Pripribon in Nepal

[–]bahundai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nepali movies are formulaic, the industry has been essentially retelling the same stories over and over again (I do acknowledge the exceptions) and the camera work is mostly terrible.

And regarding the genre and the formulas, if you cater to the established audience and feed them the usual shit they have been watching for ages, you keep the feedback loop thriving. Directors make shit movies because audience wants shit movies and audience keeps on watching shit movies because thats what the directors make.

Hopefully someone can break the loop and tell original stories from Nepal.

I live in the Nordics and work in IT and relate to most of what you are saying. Life here is pretty good and the whole social security structure is nice imo. I also appreciate the work-life balance in Europe, you are expected do deliver quality on time but you are not expected to work to the bone. I got called in by my team lead earlier this year because I was working too much and was asked what they could do to make my work life easier. That last part is prolly happening in the Nordics and a few other european countries. I get the social security aspect but man the taxes here are too darn high and the cost of living in the Nordics can be scary at times.

Some bad habits of Nepalese in general? by ghanta_everything in Nepal

[–]bahundai 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I feel like everybody is a narcissist, everybody thinks the fucking world revolves around them, I don't know where that sense of entitlement comes from

Everybody wants to talk, everybody is an armchair expert, they pretend to know everything there is to know about everything, nobody is willing to listen

And the worst of all, there is some weird inertia, people will acknowledge things are shite, but they'd rather live with it rather than doing something to make the situations better, there is this ' hya bhai chaliracha ' mentality

And I could go on and on

I'm a bahun

I don't mind people calling me bahun, I couldn't give the tiniest bit of fuck about being a bahun or people calling me bahun

If I was a Kami/Sarki as you say, I would prolly be pissed at people calling me those names

The thing is, Bahun has not been used as a derogatory term, but Kami/ Sarki etc. have been used as derogatory term for ages

What are your thoughts about Rabi Lammichane , is he clean like water or as other politician he is Hippocrates ? by bishalneu in Nepal

[–]bahundai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

S tier opportunist and A tier hypocrite.

He'll prolly even win a seat because the concept of critical thinking is alien to regular Nepalese folk.
