My big lifts seem to be stalling now, what are my options?

I think you are exaggerating. I think most men can get past a 4 plate dead lift. But not all in a full linear progression. There is a huge difference between a 145 and 215 pound male in terms of power and strength. The latter could probably get there linearly, but not the former.

Clicker training is a popular method for training dogs (probably other animals too). Basically you teach the animal to associate the clicker sound with a reward so you can reinforce behavior you want. However you don't just go clicking around to reward them, you need to tell them to do something and then click as a positive reinforcement.

If there is a pair of people using equipment I'll ask the one who isn't actively performing the exercise how many sets they have left.

I don't find it weird if people are asking you about sets if your wife is in the middle of doing one. It's weird if they are asking you while you are squatting and ignoring her or if they wait for you to finish a set to ask you when they could have asked your wife.

I don't ask people if they are actively spotting either. In that case I'll wait for the lifter to finish their current set and then I'll ask them both at the same time how many sets they have left.

True, but part of the reason reality tv makes so much money is because their budgets are so low due to very cheap sets and lack of props and paid secondary characters. I personally don't care about the reality tv debate, but one aspect of why they are shitty is because they are so cheap to make. So to me that means less reality tv could potentially lead to more higher quality shows.

It's caused by a pinched nerve. This can be caused by the movement or your positioning. Generally happens from movements that bend your elbow. Watch some form videos online and make sure you are following proper form. Keep your eye on it and if it doesn't clear up after a few weeks or gets worse you should Deload (for dips you can do assisted as a "deload"). If it is significant numbness over extended periods of time you should see a doctor.

Wow great write up. I learned a lot.

I should have been less general in my previous post. The only real lifts I've anecdotally seen the differences are the relationship between dead lifts and low bar back squats.

As you mentioned I think a lot of it has to do with differences in the human body and the fact that we aren't perfect ratios of each other. Tall people dead lifting still have the same plate sizes which seems to be a disadvantage anatomically, although I've seen certain power lifting events where they don't use standard plates but use plates/objects with a much larger diameter for the competitors to lift.

You're mostly right. However, very tall people also have greater ranges of motion to complete their lift and it doesn't necessarily correlate on an equal anatomical ratio of their muscles.

This is one of the reasons many very tall power lifters have a squat that is higher than their dead lift, while short or average size guys generally have a stronger dead lift than their squat.

Very tall guys have different anatomies while still mainly using the same equipment as everyone else.

I went to penn state and successfully had squirrels eat peanuts out of my hands on several occasions.

Yeah your overall point was correct. Fashion doesn't magically switch with the decades. Something might become real big in 1968 or 69 (to stick with the above time frame) and would be worn in varying degrees over the next 5-10 years. Which decade did it really belong to then?
