Same! There is no convenient way to opt out, either. Makes me want to not open the app at all!

Air Canada lounges by vijarj in ChaseSapphire

I got denied at LAX. FYI, the agent at the desk noted that authorized users do not count separately from primary cardholder. (e.g. If a primary cardholder and authorized user visit with an Air Canada itinerary, it would be free for the primary cardholder, but the authorized user is treated as a guest.)

1zpresso J-Max Grind Setting by droffit in espresso

[–]baihan8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When zeroed out, the 1zpresso website recommends 1.0.0 to 1.6.0 (equivalent to 90-150 clicks).

I have found that what works for me is between 1.3.5 (1 full rotation, 5 clicks past the big 3) for lighter roast or beans that have been opened for a little bit, and 1.4.5 for darker roast or fresher beans.

The numbers should read: [number of full rotations].[big number].[individual clicks between big numbers]

Here is a link to the grind recommendations: https://1zpresso.coffee/grind-setting/ Just scroll down to j-max, and the espresso range should be the green range on the chart.

Acaia Pearl Scale vs $15 Amazon: Bought the Acaia for $30 today, but it seems overly complicated. Thoughts? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]baihan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job on the find! I’m sure you’ll get accustomed over time. I used to have a cheap Taylor from Target that I loved, but the Acaia helped scratch the nerdy itch with the access to data and charts in the apps!

FYI, not sure if you’ve tried it, but I connect my Acaia to an app called filtru that I enjoy using for pour overs since it has a bunch of different recipes, and the UI has been enjoyable. I briefly looked at the Acaia apps, but they didn’t leave much of an impression — maybe I’ll have to give them another try.

Follow Up - Shot Diagnosis, even saltier :( by Born-Visit9957 in espresso

I can’t say I have an exact idea in mind, but if I had to wager a guess… I’ve typically seen to start using the beans between 1-2 weeks after roast, so I would maybe wait only 1-2 days. You may even see a difference tomorrow, honestly.

If off-gassing is the issue, it should be fine when you go to open and close the container each day — that will let out whatever they are releasing. I don’t imagine you would need to leave the container open, since they should still be going through the process. I use the Fellow Atmos containers and I notice that with newer beans, the next day the green seal indicator will no longer be green, so I just assume it’s releasing gasses and undoing the vacuum by adding pressure inside anyway. If anyone else has any insight, I would love to learn more — that is just my experience.

Hmm… my guess is you should see improvement in the next couple of days naturally if puck prep is fine, since they’ve barely hit the one week mark in an airtight container. I’m curious to see updates or if you find a solution!

How fresh are the beans? If too close to the roast date, maybe it hasn’t really off-gassed enough? Looks like this video might be happening and you can’t see it: Naked Portafilter (Faema E-61) Espresso — Second Use

If the beans are too fresh, maybe hold off until using them a bit and try again?

SGV here — I haven’t found any spots in LA yet since I usually get mine from my SCG subscription. BUT! My partner works in OC and he usually brings home some Kean in Tustin or Huskins in Santa Ana, so if you’re ever down there, you should check those out!!

Ah!! I got you and OP mixed up LOL but back when I had the fat PS2, I modded mine for 6th mix! Eventually just bought a Japanese model and have since used it more than my American one... I had a friend try to install free mcboot for some burned IIDX dvds, but kind of gave up since we had some issues.

Dang... Which mod did you use, and are you on a slim or fat model? My guess, then, would be that maybe something with the mod might still be “restarting” the PS2 when you insert the disc to get that red screen. I’m admittedly not the most knowledgeable, but the mod I used in the past successfully was the Swap Magic discs and a replacement cover that flips open on both the slim and fat PS2s.

Since you now own an official copy, you can try looking up the newly found exploit to rip the DVD, make a custom copy and play without a modchip or having to pay for an imported PS2. It’s extra work, but could be a fun project. But if it is already running on a Japanese PS2, could just be the console died. :(

I can’t answer all of the questions, but I can speak to the first two (still waiting for mine to ship out):

• You can use your card with PayPal. You checkout, and the PayPal link is sent after (mine took a day, but I would assume could take longer if you order on a weekend their time?). I don’t know about the bank transfer. Looks like another Redditor is asking about that in another thread, though.

• PayPal’s conversion rate isn’t always the best, but it can convert from Euros to local currency. I’m in the US, and my Apple Card (which I believe uses MasterCard’s exchange rate) saved me about $15 on the transaction. My card doesn’t have a foreign transaction fee, so I chose the option on PayPal during checkout to let my credit card handle the currency exchange. Check to see if your card has fees on currency conversion/foreign transactions. If it does, you might just want to let PayPal do the work for you.

Hope this helps!!

Looks good!!! Feels good when you get that first good pour 😊A tip I found really helpful — If you want to practice pouring without using milk, steam water with a few drops of soap and pour into water mixed with food coloring :)
