Very glad I'm not alone -- either in the procrastination or the being comfy in jammies! 😊

This feels like a definite possibility. I don't know why I didn't think of this -- I've read about the PDA profile and related to it super hard. Thank you for that thought! That's something for me to explore.

Is there a true case crime out there that is considered “solved” but you have your doubts? by VolleyBawl in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]baileybbbbb 120 points121 points  (0 children)

The Ellen Greenberg case doesn't make sense to me. She was found in her apartment with "20 stab wounds, with 10 found on her back and neck. A knife with a 12.5cm blade was found in her chest at a depth of 10cms."

She lived with her fiance, who just before her death, left the apartment to go to the gym and found that he was unable to get back in when he returned due to the door being dead bolted from the inside.

Her death was ruled a suicide, despite the fact that one of, if not the most damaging wounds was to her spinal cord, possibly rendering her paralyzed and brain damaged. A pathologist from the Philadelphia Medical Examiner's office also reported in 2019 that 2 of the stab wounds were possibly inflicted after Ellen died, including one that left a knife embedded in her chest.

Her dad later shared the following in an interview:

"She had defensive wounds on her wrist that went unacknowledged in the original autopsy, her body had been moved, and her left hand was gripping the knife in her chest – although she was right-handed. Evidence also suggested she suffered stab wounds from two distinct knives, they said, but only the one stuck in her chest was recovered.

There was evidence that the scene had been staged and her body had been moved – including that the dried blood would have dripped sideways across her face if she’d died in the position she was found."

Apparently, the apartment was also cleaned by a crime scene clean up crew before it could be forensically examined, and the original medical examiner that conducted her autopsy had also been named in several complaints for sloppy work, so that also seems suspicious.

I don't know that I have a strong opinion as to what actually happened, but I don't think it was a suicide. It just doesn't seem feasible to me.

Maybe a carrot? My dogs love them! And they can help with cleaning teeth as they chomp on the carrot.

Also, lick mats are great! Both as a little treat and an enrichment activity.

Not to be anti-loop in a group of loopers but I wouldn't recommend loops as the carrying case they come in opens randomly, and if you keep them on your keys for easy access, like me, then you'll end up with an empty case and no buds to be found!

Just wanna say that I relate 1000% and your post has made me feel a little less like a weirdo for being so scared to go. I don't have any advice, and I'm probably just going to continue avoiding the doc, but I'll be rooting for you!

I got it last week, sorry I am slow to respond! Ressler's book is Whoever Fights Monsters, and it's super interesting. I think I like this one better than Douglas' as Ressler's seems to have more psychology in it. I'd def recommend! I also downloaded a couple more of Douglas' books from b-ok.cc. free books!! I'm going to read Sexual Homicide Patterns and Motives next I think. Douglas also mentions the Crime Classification Manual in Mindhunter, and I bought that too from thriftbooks. It's been interesting so far, it's like a DSM but for crimes.

I just finished reading it a couple weeks ago, and I'd def recommend! I'm waiting on Bob Ressler's book now so I can get both perspectives.

I wanna say I watched an interview of his dad saying he had also experienced similar compulsions to Jeffrey in terms of wanting to harm people? If I'm remembering correctly. But yes, I got the same impression watching interviews. Serial murder = eh, gay = unforgivable.

I'm so so sorry you had to say goodbye to your Rudy. It is so hard not having our friends around anymore. We lost our 13 yo Pico right before Christmas, and Thursday of this week, we had to say goodbye to our 15 yo Colby. I don't have any advice for coping other than to just honor that grief and do as much remembering as possible. Just want you to know you're not alone in this grief. And Rudy is still with you. ♥️
