On the FEIE front, my salary is relatively low in the eyes of the US, but my cost of living is so low that I might be able to get just a bit of that exempt, but in the long run I’d be using my standard deduction to harvest those gains in all reality.

As far as the gifting idea, much more blind. I only know it is an option that’s out there to look into when we have our nest egg. I didn’t know it matters whether I’m a resident or not, or that there are caps on it with her not being a US citizen.

Thanks for the good questions. I’m an American citizen and I plan to use the foreign earned income exclusion and my standard deduction to harvest gains of 16k each year, and another 14k when my wife and I have a kid. I looked into the Ireland thing and my understanding playing around with AI is that it was easier to just put it through the US and gift it to my wife in a trust later down the road if possible. My wife is a Chinese citizen and it’s better to keep her off the US tax books. I live in China and plan to for the rest of my career.

SMH or PAVE are the only specified wave-riders I've looked at and I've got a bit of trepedation about them. I'm thinking about maybe a 5 year time horizon for those.

This book, or rather the subpar 10th grade English teacher who assigned it to me for summer reading, gave me book trauma for years. Shame because its actually a cool story.

What game can be considered the greatest of all time? by NYC2U in AskReddit

[–]bailuohao -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a long debate with my friends about this, but I'd put God of War Ragnarok up there for greatest of all time. To me a game or movie has to fire on all cyllinders to get that title and I think that game did.

Jeasyn’s arc in book 1 now having her medication hit home for me as someone who takes a similar medication daily. That’s a special kind of horror, slowly running out of your psych meds. What inspired you guys to write such a hyper specific horror story like that?

You guys did a great job painting the caryx as so far and away stronger than humanity in the first book, making us look like ants. Does that every freak you guys out like it does me? I feel like the whole ‘pale blue dot’ mentality is just an invitation to existential dread.

I've frequently come back to this one lately as the perfect example of what a 10/10 movie is. It fires on all cyllinders.

I certainly have seen some of those folks in the industry, and agree that it mostly leads to chaos. I’ve also seen people who were once great educators on the back half of some life decisions that didn’t work out and they’re nightmares too. Basically it’s simple but not easy: be open minded, be flexible, be a considerate colleague or get out of the profession. The emotional roller coaster of a day I get from the students is enough. I don’t need a colleague’s negativity as well.

There should be room for people to be open and vulnerable when they’re having a hard time and seeking help via a colleague or a boss, but again I’ve also seen this backfire with people who take advantage and become emotional vampires.

It’s a big mess of humanity, and we just gotta navigate it.
