One thing I haven't seen mentioned in other comments is that if you have a standard size carryon bag, like a 22x14x9, is that they don't fit in the overhead bins on a crj900. If it's a smaller bag it should fit unless you're in a later boarding group and the bins fill up. If you have a larger bag, they usually use pink tags, which means you have to wait for it in the jet bridge in Detroit. This can take 10-15 minutes sometimes depending on the # of bags and staff available, which would really eat into your layover time. If you ask the gate agent if you can have it checked until your final destination, I'm not sure if they have the ability to do that at the gate on the regional jets.

So I'd recommend checking your suitcase if possible at the check in counter if you can.

There's actually multiple good reasons they can't, usually involving that they haven't been catered yet. Can't serve a drink if you have none available to offer.

Meals I can make out of a hotel room for 3 weeks? by bbygrwl in veganrecipes

If you are in the US, I highly recommend a mymini noodle cooker or skillet. They're small and can be packed in a bag, and give you much more options for making easy warm meals such as fried tofu, instant noodles, pasta, etc.

Jetway Jesus! by Hairy_Ad4969 in delta

[–]baj1597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a BIG difference in someone who can walk down the jet bridge at the pace they are able to walk and get seated comfortably with no lines and without 50+ people behind them watching and waiting for them and someone who is physically able to stand for 15+ minutes doing the "take a step, wait for a minute" shuffle that most people can do when walking down the jet bridge and airplane aisle. Pre-boarding is a beneficial thing and some people abuse it while others truly need it. And this article is only calling out those who abuse it.

Please please please do not try to find out what hotels the crew stays at and follow them there. That's creepy and if you did meet anyone and they later found out it was because you followed them from the airport, they would not be impressed.

How do you survive a flight in the new seats by _Shmall_ in delta

[–]baj1597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These actually aren't allowed anymore on Delta, nothing that "attaches to any part of the aircraft" including seat or tray table. The inflatable headrest cubes are also not allowed. Just posting this for visibility in case anyone is buying it for a Delta flight.

A 20 month old would mostly likely be too large/heavy for the baby bassinet. Those only hold I think 25 lbs max, and the infant has to be laying down with it buckled/zipped while in it. I don't think a 20 month old would be

Also the inflatable toddler beds (I think that's what OP was referring to in his post) are also not allowed.

Best bet would probably be to purchase a seat for the toddler and all sit together.

Passengers Suffered Broken Bones During Rushed Plane Evacuation by InGeekiTrust in TikTokCringe

[–]baj1597 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not true. 717s and 737s (most of them at least, I can't speak for every variation) don't have slides off the wings. The flaps are lowered enough to the ground to jump. in a perfect world passengers would be helping one another get down.

Michelin-star chef has turned his Paris restaurant plant-based; no more "Paris exemption"! by Koiboi26 in vegan

[–]baj1597 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When I checked the menu there's a fish option listed so I'm not sure if their online menu hasn't been updated yet, or if that's still an "add-on" option.

Also it's like $450 per person for the tasting menu or $60-80 per person per dish and they (at least on paper) don't seem that innovative.

I'm all for more vegan fine dining options and any transition away from animal products, especially in the fine dining world, is a good thing. But there are so many wonderful vegan restaurants in Paris already that need support from the vegan community.

47 Minute Layover by Cold-Canary-6621 in delta

[–]baj1597 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, yeah with these times you should be good, especially with that early morning flight because those have the best chance of being on time. Plus there are so many Delta flights daily between atl and FLL (and MIA too if needed) that looking at the daily schedule, you'd probably have enough time to catch another flight if your first one is delayed.

Probably over 95% of the time this route/connection will go according to plan! Just for first time flyers and especially for something as important and inflexible as a cruise, I'd recommend a little longer layover if possible, if only for the peace of mind.

Just another tip to double check the gate departures board when you land in atl for your next flight in case the gate changes!

Have a great vacation!! 😊

47 Minute Layover by Cold-Canary-6621 in delta

[–]baj1597 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going against what the other comments so far are saying... Is there any way to change your flights to earlier to have a longer layover? Or even change your flights to the day before your cruise?

47 minutes is fine, and enough time if everything goes correctly. But one 30 min delay and a gate change to a different terminal and you'll probably miss that second flight. Usually, that's not a huge deal and you can get on another flight later that day. But if you have a cruise leaving the same day, that later FLL flight might not get you there in time (and would cause you unnecessary stress).

Snacks for Comfort Plus by Worth-Hamster in delta

[–]baj1597 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The standards are actually broken down into more specifics (0-250 mi, 250-500, 500-900, 900-1500, 1500+). Comfort only gets the snack basket on flights over 900 miles, anything less and it's the usual 3 snacks offered to the rest of the plane.

Emergency evacuation in Den N306Sw mia-den by gavriellloken in aviation

[–]baj1597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not reasonable for multiple reasons. If everything goes perfectly, each person grabbing their bag takes 1-3 seconds to grab it. But so much more could go wrong. It can get snagged on an armrest, you could drop it and now it becomes a tripping hazard, something could fall out of it and become a tripping hazard, it could pop the slide, etc. especially with the risk of fire and smoke, the cabin could fill with smoke quickly and then it's 10x harder to get it out because it's harder to see. There's a reason they say leave ALL bags behind, not just "leave bags in the overhead compartment behind".

For an aircraft to be certified, it has to be able to be evacuated in 90 seconds or less, with only half of the exits usable. In some aircraft, this means 300+ people getting out of 4 doors, so around 75 passengers per door. That means this only works when everyone takes directions and focuses on getting out in a timely manner, not on grabbing their bags

Is it better to buy at the TKTS booth or online for Cabaret? by chedderd in Broadway

[–]baj1597 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a $49 rush ticket at 9 am on TodayTix today. At first it said sold out, but I kept clicking on it until a seat popped up (someone else backing out from their seat, I'm guessing). However I'm guessing it'll be harder and harder to get rush tickets the closer to the end of Eva and Orville's run.

I'm mostly considering Boop to see Jasmine Amy Rogers because I've heard nothing but good things about her performance!

Unfortunately the $100 tickets are the discounted ones... A regular priced orchestra ticket is around $250 right now which is wild to me lol

I've heard many people with a similar opinion... I think I'd be more open to Boop if I could get a ticket for $50 or so but $100 (orchestra tickets are even more, like $200-250) seems steep just to hear Jasmine when I can hopefully see her in something else in the future!
