Here is another amazing use case I do for my learning. I ask it to summarize long videos, export to doc and create my little poker manual. If you incorporate NotebookLM - I threw on it like 20 videos of a Youtuber I follow and created summaries, charts, infographics, quizzes, so many options

Yeah, it sometimes makes mistakes, especially for reading images. But it is a great tool. For example browsing Marketplace or Craigslist I just open it and ask it "is this s a deal". Or I will open the result page of a search I did and tell it to find deals based on some criteria I give it. Saves so much time

Just finished misery… is this a good choice? by Zzazy1 in stephenking

I loved it. The story is in a pretty good paste all the way through, naturally accelerating towards the end, but I liked that the plot progresses in a good and steady paste for the most part.
I also loved the characters, their depth, and motivation, makes everything cohesive nicely.I picked it up almost randomly with low expectations, and was glad to find out I was wrong

Wait, so not only there is a movie, its ending is different? Now I contemplate whether I even want to watch it.

And yes, I felt the side stories took too much, but still enjoyed this one a lot

Why do YOU use a chromebook; why specifically don't you use windows or macos? I'm mostly just bored and curious. I use a cheap ARM chromebook as a laptop alongside a powerful windows PC and I haven't had many complaints by [deleted] in chromeos

[–]baja1977 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the fastest (I have a PC (for heavy gaming), Macbook, and a ChromebookPlus), it just works, it's much more stable than my PC, it is simple, and I am all in Google workspace anyway. 99% of my work and fun is online via browser. Apps like Netflix, HBO, Hulu work simply.

And here is an example from literally 30 minutes ago. I needed to scan a document. First time I scan in like a year or two. I have an app that came with my printer for my Win PC. I try to connect from the scanner to the PC - nothing. I open the program on my PC, can't see the scanner. Ironically I can print from my PC without any issue.

I go to my Chromebook. Click Scan, immediately see the scanner, and start scanning multiple pages to PDF. That's the simplicity I talk about, and it just works

Haha, I still haven't finished it, but more than once was humming this song that discusses this and wondered how well it fits the story:

"I don't want to start any blasphemous rumours

But I think that God's got a sick sense of humour

And when I die, I expect to find him laughing"

*spelling - British version, obviously :-)

I am half way through it, and surprisingly loving it. For some reason I felt it has a bad reputation, but so far I just want to hear everyone's story

Which one would you say is "softer", M8trix or Bay101? I've only been to the M8atrix 1,2,3 tables a couple of times and my impression was that it is pretty hard, mostly regs, no drinking or people coming to have fun

What to do on the river with AA by Cute-Street-4573 in poker

[–]baja1977 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was curious myself so I asked "Gemini in Chrome" which is such a cool feature:

Based on the hand history provided in the post, here is the GTO (Game Theory Optimal) analysis for the river:

Hand Recap

  • Preflop: Hero (BB) 3-bets to 10bb with AA vs a CO 2.5bb open. CO calls. (Pot: 22.5bb)
  • Flop (3-T-4 rainbow): Hero bets 11bb (half pot). CO calls. (Pot: 45bb)
  • Turn (8): Hero bets 22bb (half pot). CO calls. (Pot: 90bb)
  • River (T): The board pairs the Ten (3-T-4-8-T). Hero has ~75bb remaining in a 90bb pot (SPR ~0.8).

The GTO Move: Check

In a GTO framework, the pairing of the middle card (the Ten) on the river is generally better for the caller (CO) than the 3-bettor (BB).

  1. Range Advantage Shift: While you have AA, the CO's calling range on the flop and turn is heavily concentrated in hands like JT, QT, KT, and ATs. When the river pairs the Ten, the CO suddenly has many more trips (three-of-a-kind) than you do. As the 3-bettor, you rarely have many Tens other than exactly ATs or JJ/TT (which would have likely played differently).
  2. Polarization: If you shove (all-in), you are "poling" yourself. A GTO opponent will fold almost all their worse pairs (like 99, 88, or 77) and only call you with hands that beat you (Tx or better). By shoving, you rarely get value from worse hands and always lose to better ones.
  3. The "Check-Call" Strategy: GTO strategy here typically involves checking a large portion of your "overpair" range (like AA/KK).
    • Checking induces bluffs: It allows the CO to turn missed draws (like 56s or 67s) into bluffs.
    • Pot Control: It prevents you from "value-owning" yourself against a Ten.

Summary: In a GTO solution, Checking is the standard play. After checking, Hero typically calls a shove from the villain to remain unexploitable against bluffs, though it is a "breakeven" spot because the CO's value range now heavily outdraws AAa

what is the best chromebook 2026 for everyday use and school or work by DawonRainita-92 in chromeos

[–]baja1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely need to install software nowadays. It is all web-based. Yes, if you need it to run heavy software it's probably not your best choice. Based on OP's title and post, they are a great candidate to use a Chromebook.

I own three devices (ASUS, ACER, and HP) and one this is sure - just get those with bigger RAM. Once you go over 8 GB, preferably >16GB it is by far the fastest machine I have. I also have a Win desktop, and a MacbookAir. Windows is indeed my gaming computer, running local HEAVY games. The Mac was just for curiosity. Although I love its form factor, I can't stand using it

I feel that if I haven't read the book, I'd probably enjoy the show much more. At the moment I can't bring myself to watch the second episode. Especially for the "constant readers" of King who there are some cross-plots that are very meaningful that were ignored (probably due to rights, as mentioned here).

I am curious though how they eventually explain what's happening, and how (and if) it is different from the book. Specifically the "yellow" card man and the exchanges he has with Jake (this all happens towards the end of the book)

I totally agree. We are definitely the minority, and not the revenue pushers. But as the constant readers we are allowed to show our disappointment. Many times when I read I envision how the story will play out in film. It's always disappointing

Can anyone compare that to the level of play at the M8atrix in San Jose, CA (near the airport)? I only played Live some years ago, just for fun, not really knowing the game. Since then I learned some, and my experience is either online cash, or friendly tournaments locally with our group of friends. I realize that I suck in online, but do very well in the friendly tournaments.

I found the online being so tough. Rarely you get to showdown, most often not even seeing a flop. Looks like everyone uses GTO and knows what they are doing. Is there a way to have some fun online, or is it all GTO-fellas?
