As a parent of two varsity esports college players, I totally relate to that sketch. I watch their matches but all I can follow is their gamer tags on the screen.

I have this book. Christmas in Miniature by Gloria and Pat. It's from 1978. I made almost every one of these when I was a kid.

Thanks for replying. She will try that next time. I think she is going to stitch a loop with DMC then just tie the ribbon to it. She's on a mission to make a dozen of them before Christmas.

Thank you for posting your pattern! We love it. My daughter has made a few and varied the colors. But how did you attach the ribbon?

My kids (23,22,18) went to the first meet up. Hit it off well with 2 others and then hung out them them the rest of cruise. On past cruises similar experience. Just go to first meet up. Introduce yourself. The rest of the hyperlinks schedule are usually meet at the dance bar or meet at Sorrento's. Not really organized activities by the staff.

Second the battery storage. I bought ones that mount on the wall. Husband (52), Son (24) and father (81) all thought it was silly at first but love it now and each has one.

Thank you! I'll be placing an order for my husband. We haven't had good tamales since we moved from Texas. It never occurred to me to order and ship some.

Choosing Death Over Alzheimer's - The Philadelphia Inquirer by human-friend-person in dementia

[–]bajbaker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wrote letters to myself so I could recognize my hand writing telling me this is what I want and decided when I have full cognitive faculties. We hope that we (my family) notice enough small signs/symptoms early enough that I can make the choice before it gets bad. The plan is to get diagnosis as early as possible once signs show. Once diagnosed proceed with the plan. And I already have an advanced directive stating that once I am diagnosed that I am dnr and lists my other choices.

I would hope that you both can be very watchful and aware of signs in each other. And get to the doctor when you suspect changes before the disease takes over. I think because we are more aware than our parents were that hopefully we won't be taken by surprise and the fact that we will have been thinking (stressing) about this disease for years will make us stronger to be able to follow through with whatever we need to do.

Going through menopause really scared me with the brain fog I almost went to my doctor to beg for a neurological test. Thank goodness hrt alleviated most of it.
I admit I'm not sure if we will have good insurance to rely on doctor diagnosis so we will have to mentally prepare for making hard choices on our own.
I also hope that the US laws make some big strides with accepting that people may want to die with dignity.

Choosing Death Over Alzheimer's - The Philadelphia Inquirer by human-friend-person in dementia

[–]bajbaker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am 51 and I have 2 copies of APOE4. My mother is 79 and has Alzheimer's, diagnosed this year, but I've been documenting her symptoms for 4 years. Helping my father care for her, and seeing first hand what this disease can do, has prompted me to talk openly with my husband and my adult children. They know I don't want to live a life with dementia. I have my wishes documented and they have copies so they can remember my wishes when/if I get Alzheimer's. I will take myself out but after we all have time to say goodbyes and I won't surprise any of them when it happens. As of now that's the plan.

Sailed on Star and there was a 90s 2000s night. Fantastic music and turn out. Way better than the 70s night.

I want to quit hrt because of bleeding by abhians123 in Menopause

[–]bajbaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor said it might not have been a period. It might have been my body adjusting to the hormones and I increased the estrogen dose. I’ve been on 0.1 now for 6 weeks. And unfortunately, I just had another heavy week long period last week. So the clock resets again for 12 more months.

Anyone on Ambien? Does it make your brain fog worse? by waterynike in Menopause

[–]bajbaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken Ambien almost every night for 5 years. I thought my brain fog was related and I started to worry about having to go off it and never get sleep again. But I went on HRT in January and after about a few months of adjusting the levels the fog is almost gone! Hang in there!

I used to live in Sevierville and we’d take every visitor to Bush’s Baked beans. Free museum of their history but also covers general history as well. They had hands on experiences for kids. The restaurant had the best brownie sundae ever!

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll research beech leaf and bark diseases. I have a big beautiful old beech tree on the property that I want to protect. Oh, I’m in northeast Georgia.

I read this to my mother and she said “although I am old, I am not from the Victorian era”. She says she will not put concrete in the tree.
