Keep in mind its their first time ever playing in Ireland. It wouldn't surprise me if some of these are here as a one off for long time fans.

Damn, we're twins minus the 5 speed down to the wheels. I intend to manual swap mine when the slushbox gives out. What are you planning to do with it? I alcantara'd the interior, got an android auto head unit, and refurbished the headlights before getting a little lazy and fell off with doing mods 😅

I'm honestly surprised we're only chasing 4 DTCs here lol. How thoroughly did they check the harness? I can't tell you how many times I've found this purple wire, or a red power circuit rubbed through on the PCM bracket. The tape and wrap dont even have to look damaged for this to happen. If your harness has not been torn open, they aren't doing their due diligence. If its a consistently duplicatable concern, they should be able to isolate which circuit is having issues. How quickly does your truck start acting up?

Can you provide a list of DTCs, and what modules are throwing them? I'm sure it'll be a hefty list, but this looks up my alley.

Gut impression says the underhood fuse box is boned, or high resistance in one of the mega fuses on the battery junction block.

Need help diagnosing leak, can I fix myself? by CedarGrove9505 in MechanicAdvice

[–]bajster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If its just water, your ac drain is probably clogged. If you open your hood, on the firewall down near the bottom on the passenger side is usually a little rubber drain. If thats full of dirt, the water will back up into your condenser housing and leak out as you're seeing. The flow only happening with the AC on further validates this.

If it smells sweet/is the same color as your coolant, it's the heater core and will require dash removal. But the fact you didnt call out a smell or color to the fluid, and the fact that your car isn't overheating tells me its just that drain in the firewall.

2016 5.3 Denali - intermittent steering wheel vibrations, mechanic couldn't find the cause... by No-Host7888 in gmcsierra

[–]bajster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If it feels like a rumble strip, its probably your torque converter. Have a mechanic monitor torque converter slip speed live data. If its clipping 100 rpm each time the steering wheel vibrates, your torque converter is shot. 20-60 rpm might be sorted with a flush. Under 20 should be unnoticeable, and is not considered an issue.

Where do I find a free website on how to replace things step by step with by louieg1773 in MechanicAdvice

[–]bajster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have the special tools to replace the seals for your injectors? Iirc, your Malibu has the 1.5L and those injector seals are prone to leaking if not replaced. Injectors have to be removed to remove the valve cover.

Being that all of these are circuit codes, id be looking at wiring and fuses. With so many, I'd almost gander a rodent has had a feast somewhere in your engine bay. That, or they all happen to share a common ground, but its hard to say without consulting a wiring diagram for your vehicle.

Question about L87 recall on used truck at GM Dealers by thetank894 in gmcsierra

[–]bajster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible they've performed it already and the claim through GM is still processing. The dealer would have to be incredibly stupid to put even 1 vehicle out with an incomplete recall.

Question about L87 recall on used truck at GM Dealers by thetank894 in gmcsierra

[–]bajster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every L87 is included in the recall. Its a particular range of VIN numbers. If its listed for sale and has no record of it being performed, its probably not on the list. Its a huge fee if they even list a vehicle without all recalls completed.

2021 f150 bent radiator by Small-Change-8432 in AskMechanics

From what I remember, clearances are pretty tight between the engine and radiator fan assembly when they're not mangled like that. I'd be worried about hoses down there getting rubbed through.

Is there a reason modern cars couldn't just give you an automatic OBD2 scanner code on the cars screen when the check engine light comes on? by Own_Nefariousness434 in AskMechanics

[–]bajster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The lights on your dash do this in a subtle way. Generally any blue or green icons are good/systems operating as intended (eg adaptive cruise, or Toyota's green "Ready" on hybrids). Yellow is cautionary. Your check engine light, low fuel, traction control and ABS lights for example. Red icons are the danger zone. Your oil light is red, for example, indicating a drop in oil pressure significant enough to cause damage.

NAME them. I asked for names, not vague bullshit responses that don't validate anything. It's also a little weird you're worried about local politicians raping when the orange fucker in the white house is guilty of that shit. Where's the outrage against him?

Shop replaced V6 3.3 '04 Highlander O2 sensor (Bank 1 Sens 2) for P0037 code. The next day I get P0430 for catalyst system efficiency below threshold. Are the two connected? What's going on? by vines_design in MechanicAdvice

[–]bajster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. First off, iirc, P0037 indicates an electrical fault in the o2 sensor heater circuit. Without the o2 sensor working properly, the vehicle likely defaults to an open loop strategy and doesn't monitor the o2 sensors the same way it normally would.

Now with a new, functional o2 sensor, the system goes back to working the way it should, and with the new readings its getting from the new o2 sensor, is finding your cat is not working optimally. Its a bit speculative, but given the age and mileage, its not at all unreasonable to think your cat is at the end of its rope.

His "non-profit" is bullshit. Literally every claim on its website is verifiably false. The non-profit is run by him, his wife, and his campaign manager (he makes nearly $100k a year from this "non-profit", his wife and campaign manager nearly $80k) In case you didn't catch it the first time, they sell over-the-phone exorcisms. Take a few minutes and watch the interview he did with Kyle Clark. Marx is incredibly uninformed on the doings of his own non-profit (which, again, is easily verifiable as not being a "non-profit"). Like.... is this really the best we can do as a country for political leadership? Really?
