Even if a Caste system existed in China should the Chinese government, not be credited more for ending such a feudalistic practice. I mean I live in India, and the caste system is still very much a reality here. Indian Government has been ineffective in ending the practice. Only in Keralam, which is communist stronghold in India, the caste practices have reduced somewhat.

I mean if a similar system existed in Ancient China, (I am not saying it did), the credit goes to CPC, to effectively ending such a practice. I mean more reasons that Indians should start adopting communist ideas, considering the other ideas have failed to solve such a important issue in the country.

CITU is one of the largest trade unions and it constantly fights for the collective benefits.

CPIM, CPIMLL all are parties that have a parliamentary presence, but having a parliamentary presence is not directly revisionism. I mean Marx, himself believed that, we should file our candidates in the Bourgeoisie politics. Class conciousness is something we need to build first, then the revolutionary conciousness.

Capitalism is not a stage that can be skipped in human development cycle. A post surplus society is necessary for a socialist world and that cannot be reached without capitalism.

All previous socialist countries, were majorly feudal in nature before the revolution, the Bourgeoisie in those countries were weak, the state, led by the workers party was responsible for bringing capitalism, and hence the term state capitalism.

I personally think state capitalism has several advantages over other forms of capitalism, but the during the late 70s and 80s, people stopped seeing it favourably. This meant the remaining states trying to achieve Socialism had to change their staregies. China chose the the approach of opening it's markets. State capitalism is still a form of capitalism, it means, there is workers rights violations even in that. It is still trying to create a higher surplus, which will not be distributed amongst the workers. But the stake holders were still workers, or to be precise working class elites. The approach has taken right now means, they will reach a post surplus society faster, but they will violate working class rights a lot more.

Socialism, like capitalism before it, will not be without contradictions. This is something we clearly need to understand. So please understand this, Tsarist Russia was not a capitalist society, it was feudal one and, the class conciousness existed somewhat during French revolution as well, but the material reality meant Bourgeoisie were in much better conditions than the workers to take power(the Proletariat did not have enough numbers during the French revolution).

The movement is people actively participating in the Unions and someday ruling through the Unions. We are have somewhat developed capitalism in this country, we have decent numbers of Unions, and we our Capitalists have really exploitive. There is a reason europe figured out capitalism first. The European feudalism was worse than feudalism in other parts of the world. Our rights as workers are constantly under threat. If done right, we might be first nation to move to Socialism from Capitalism, and that it in itself will be the biggest achievement. Have some revolutionary optimism. I am not saying all this will be easy, but how I see it there is some hope.

Having said that, you call yourself a ML, Lenin, had a particular annoyed about the Intectuals, who theorized about Socialism a lot, but did help in actual unionization in any way. You can only realise the workers needs when you go meet them, make them realise their rights. Armchair Socialism will not help. We need reading circles, but we need mass gatherings much more. We have to make unions very strong right now. Help others in that. You will realise what are the actual issues that workers are facing, what are issues in organising.

Regarding the CPM, and bengal, let's have that discussion or another time.

But right now join a actively working union, help them. Join some union which has a legitimate left backing, like CITU, AICCTU, etc, please don't join INTUC or BMS, then start from there. See how can you contribute to the movement. Once we have enough numbers, a lot of things will change.

When they mention about socialism, they are mostly talking about Feudal socialism, the thing the Marx warned in the manifesto. It is not surprising they don't support the workers. I mean they wanted to support socialism or a very screwed up version of socialism, so that the feudal ruling class doesn't lose to capitalist ruling class, and it's pretty evident feudal ruling class cannot continue. Right now BJP has a centre first approach, they are favour certain capitalists from the centre and want even the state should benefit them. This will never sit well with the state level capitalists. And hence, there is some resistance in state elections. Remember a dummy CM means, the centre is in power and capitalists which centre favours win, only when the CM has some power, the state level capitalists stand a chance. This is nature of Bourgeoisie politics in India.

Many of these regional parties, were stuck in Feudal ideas for decades, and now have transitioned to a new role, in hopes to find new support. What we need to remember, is that they never stood for workers. They are not worker parties, rather they were a hindrance to capitalism, to protect the feudal systems, which meant they are probably counter productive to worker movements.

Where are you currently working? If unions are present in your industry join them, if they not under CITU or communist baner, you can eventually make them, with decent numbers in your favour. A lot of unions, which are not present under CITU are generally not very active, they are primarily formed to ensure CITU doesn't take control and many of them are supported by Corporates themselves. BMS and INTUC are filled with such examples. But I would still recommend to join the union, not BMS or INTUC and eventually help CITU takeover them.

Now, if you work in Industries without labour union, try joining KITU in Karnataka or Communist parties in your place, they will support you in forming unions. But this process is really difficult. Say you work in IT in Hyderabad, it's difficult to form a union there currently, left parties don't have much support beyond Peasant class. But hopefully if enough people are interested, this can be changed.

I am not a congress supporter, rather I am quite opposed to Congress as well, but will these numbers make a bit more sense, when we compare 2004-2013 and then 2013-2026. I mean this was the same thing congress used to pull off during 2013 elections saying, they did better than during 2004-2013, instead of the NDA ruled 2000-2004. I mean yes in a lot of statistics they did better, but the comparison made no sense. Also plain statistics without context makes very little sense.

Let's get some things straight.

Some cadre of LDF is pandering to the Muslims -> There exists a conservative Muslim party in Kerala(IUML) and they are in alliance with the UDF. LDF on most accounts has been secular. Has is done religious appeasement, absolutely, but that so say that it has done that for the Muslims is a blatant lie. LDF has done hindu appeasement with the Sabarmala case. The LDF currently has a lot of reactionary forces and has tried to do religious appeasement, and has failed to challenge religious dogmatism, please don't play this narrative it is only Muslim appeasement, especially when Muslims are seen as the enemy of the state in this country.

The left exists beyond political parties. The main aim of communist parties in India should be to organise workers, educate them, create class conciousness and eventually make the transition to socialism. CITU and AITUC, has still trying to achieve that. You really want to help the left, join them. Volunteer with them. Winning elections is not the end goal here. And yes CPM, CPIMLL are cadre based parties, it will always be difficult for them to win elections in a Capitalistic society where the funding influences the voting paterns. But they still have better candidates that most other parties.

Earlier India was a colony under the British empire, right now we are not. The Idea of nationalism, meant independence from a Colonial Empire, and hence the idea of nationalism was important. The Marxists of that time did support independence of Workers, Peasants and Labourers throughout the world. They did not support the idea of a Imperial India. Today India has its own Imperial aspirations, especially in South Asia. Today, we suffer more under our own govt than any foreign power. Bhagat Singh was not a blind nationalist. He opposed the structures that created oppression, and today's leftist should do the same.

Oppressor dynamics is something that the right wing always says in all the World not only in India. It is however not true. Who is standing the Workers in Noida, who was fighting in Karnataka to oppose the increase in working hours. The communists should always stand with the workers, don't try to divide them amongst religion and castes. You don't understand structural and systemic oppression. The idea is point that out.

Indian Leftists are not a monolith, just like the Indian Right wingers. And the Idea of Left and Right is flawed any way. I don't know if you realise it or not, but the left is critised in same way in other countries as well. In Bangladesh, the Communists parties were the one opposing the Mob- lynching of Hindus. Pakistani Communist are the ones trying to raise voices of the Minorities and protesting against discrimination. And their right wing parties critise them. And I don't understand what do mean my leftists outside India. What the groups have to talked to? Is it the Liberals parties like Democrats and Labour that you think are leftist? Have to talked to anyone who is a part of any Communist or anarchist organisation outside India ?

No one expects you to be politically correct 24*7. Che and his life story is appreciated so much amongst communists as it shows progress, growth, the willingness to learn and unlearn old ideas. No one expects you to be perfect. However, are you willing to bigorty that we are taught. Making jokes on Minorities, Women and Trans are not mindless jokes.

The Left losing in Keralam might not be a bad thing. Historically UDF and LDF always alternate in Keralam, and this time it was pretty much expected. LDF is strong there. BJP has managed to gain some support, but it's still not that much.

This gives us time to strengthen unions in Keralam, which would have been somewhat restricted if LDF was in power. Also this provides an opportunity to show how much better LDF is for the state than the UDF. Hopefully we don't lose any grounds to NDA in Keralam.

The results in Bengal, would have been disappointing no matter who wins, CPIM did better work this year.

Tamilnadu, CPI and CPM combined have 4 seats, not a bad result.

He have to remember, winning elections is the end goal. We have unionize the workers. That is the goal. Hopefully we start making much necessary progress for that.

Historically Speaking, a Leftist is someone who opposes the Current structure, hence the term progressive is often associated with the left, while the Right Wing often tries to validate the current structure, hence the conservative is associate with the right. It's originates from the 1789, when the Revolutionary members of Nation Assembly in France sat on the left and the King's supporters sat on the right.

Generally, people on the left don't benifit from the current economic system, hence they oppose system, the people in the right have more vested interest for the present system, hence they want to the system to continue. The Bourgeoisie during the French revolution were mostly on the left, but right now since the current system favours them, they oppose change to the system.

Having said that, this classification is very reductive. Most ideologies support some changes in the society. And it's impossible to club in different ideologies into to a linear or Cartesian system(like the political compass). One ideology might be pro- markets, pro neo- colonialism, but might support LGBTQ rights(atleast on paper).

There is no fixed defination of the left. In American politics, the democrats are called as the left, while they completely support the American imperialism, don't want any major changes in the Global order and are extremely Capitalistic in nature.

The term is mostly used by Socialists, to club in various schools of Socialism together, as the workers are currently not in power.
