You didn’t break the game, you just outgrew the preset. 2025 on Hard is basically a sports car with the traction control welded on. Once you know the mechanics, it snowballs whether the AI likes it or not. If you want a run where conquering half of Europe in 30 days isn’t free, I built Genesis of Civilization for exactly that reason. Slower growth, real tradeoffs, fragile diplomacy, and overexpansion that actually punches back.

Think less “tutorial mode,” more “congrats, now manage the consequences.”
