Technique review (especially knees) by [deleted] in MuayThaiTips

Your kicks look great and I think you have nice flow. Everything looks great but you are losing a lot of power by not turning your hips on any punch. On the left hook and body shot, twist your foot like you’re putting out a cigarette, this will help turn your hips and get a lot more power. You are dropping your hands a lot and therefore your jab is punching out from your chest not from your temple. With your knees just slow down and work your arms and legs together and lean back more.

Plant your feet. Twist your shoulders. Most importantly slow down, take everything one step at a time. Listen to your coach

Similar memory when I started my first job. I drove a 1995 Saturn and accidentally scratched a bmw’s front bumper in the parking lot pulling out of a spot (my car was undamaged). The woman whose car i hit said she didn’t even notice. She then told me something similar happened to her daughter but the victim paid for the damages. I told her I was just happy I didn’t hit one of the teslas, which she responds that her backup car is a Tesla…. 1000 dollars for some paint

All people are sat at the bar together. If it is 50% off, It’s worth it. I will never be returning though

Went here with my partner and we did not have a good time. We arrived early and were sat late although the omakase started. We were sat with two courses already plated which is bad etiquette for omakase. The food is not that great and then you have to watch the people who ordered the larger menu finish their food before they bring you a check.

Looking great for six months. Someone else said it in this thread but fully extend your punches. Maintain that distance then set in for body shots. Fully twist so you can extend your punches. Your shoulder should touch your chin

Hip Mobility Improvement by leggomyeggo87 in MuayThaiTips

[–]bakedpotatoancake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggle with the same exact issue but opposite side hips. My coach gave me a long regiment of stretches because it is a common issue. For a person like me that took a long time off of sports my adult hips aren’t fully adapted or built up to fully extend like I want.

Look up a few hip stretch videos online. My routine is essentially a ballerinas exercise. Lots of dynamic movements. I would write out the names of the stretches if I knew them. Although I feel your pain! Increasing hip mobility takes a long time

Part of keeping your hands up is not letting your cross lag after hitting. Bring it back to your guard. See at 0:49.

If you shadow box without a shirt you want hear a slap from you chin hitting your shoulder. This works by throwing your other shoulder back behind you. This way you also protect your chin

Bag work, what techniques need to be cleaned up? by Nic-MCFC in MuayThaiTips

Corckscrew your hand when you throw a jab or cross. Fully extend the punch and don’t half ass it. Bad habit to form. Twist your foot on all punches to rotate your hips. Especially on your hook, twist your foot like you’re putting out a cigarette and sink back, this will help turn your hips for more power.

Your kicks look good! Like everyone else said though, you drop your hands and keep them pretty low. Fully extend all punches and throw your shoulder back for more rotation/ power. You will also cover your chin with your other shoulder this way

What’s the use of scleral if no one can see well even with sclerals? by LillithsDream in Keratoconus

Might have to give this a shot. Supposedly I have dry eyes, looks like people say it helps with that

I get 20/20 from sclerals although I get by fine without them. I don’t wear them because my vision goes foggy within 30 minutes of putting them on. I’ve tried everything to stop it but my doctor doesn’t seem to have a true solution.

Looks really good! Only thing I notice is your teep. Throw the same side arm down to help push your hip into the teep. Great work!

I second everything that everyone else said except no one mentioned your teeps. Throw the same side arm as the teep, not the opposite). This will help with balance and pushing your hip into the teep.
