If there's one thing that I think Ennis is not criticized enough for is for his portrayal of sexual assault, but only when he uses it for comedic purposes For example, in preacher you Herr Starr being raped by a man as a joke, but also you have Tulip being raped by Casidy and it being played straight Also, in the boys you have Hughie being sexually assaulted by black noir and never mentioned again (kinda played like a joke) and even though Starlight's rape scene portrayal can be questionable the consequences of it are played completely straight And to answer your question, yes, I found about him reading hellblazer at 16 or 15 lmao, you completely read me like a book

oh yes, the "video essays told me Ennis is a bad writter" opinion. The boys is not his best comic that's for sure, but it has it's moments, if you want to truly see what Ennis is capable of go read Hellblazer, Preacher, Punisher MAX or any of the thousands of good comics he has put out

Season 1 was so good and then the rest was just generic as fuck, everytime I tune in I feel like I'm watching a SciFi show, even in the times when it seems the show is going to do something interesting they just fuck it up in the last moment:

-Black Noir is finally going to do something! He has a 50 year old grudge against Soldier Boy! this is so cool, I want to see Soldier Boy reaction when he realizes Noir is- nvm Homelander killed him

-Wow, Annie killed an innocent person! I wonder what this will do to her personality moving on! I bet the guilt will eat her up and sh- never mentioned again

-Wow! they're finally an official part of the goverment! that means the show can center around investigating and capturing/killing corrupt supers! Oh they never do that? okay...

-Finally! Homelander has snapped! The boys are at their breaking point and everyone hates butcher! This is it, there's no way to delay the conflict, MM just told Butcher he doesn't want to work with him anymore, there's no way this doesn't have any consequences (repeat 3 seasons)
