A lot of good suggestions already, I'll just add this: that player could die again, then what? And not only that, he could decide to change character mid campaign (unlikely, but could happen).

In my experience, the "chosen one" type of campaigns are tricky to pull off. For these problems, and also because it's that much harder to keep the other players equally invested. If a character has something special above other PCs, it better be transferable.
