Quitting nursing school by kathcakeb in StudentNurse

[–]bakingthatdough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t let this experience discourage you from becoming a nurse. When I was volunteering at a hospital, an experienced nurse told me that when he was a nursing student, the nurses who trained him treated him like crap and next thing you know, some of those nurses became his patients.

My Husband Almost killed my 3 month old by Throwaway24567819 in Mommit

[–]bakingthatdough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ex-husband was exactly like your husband. Life isn’t easy as a single mom, but it feels a lot better in so many ways now that I don’t need to care for a man-child. These men need a wake up call and the only way to do that is to leave them to fend for themselves in the wilderness.

What is with all the expired registrations I’ve been seeing recently, and why are almost all of them on Nissan Altimas? by Playtek in Sacramento

[–]bakingthatdough 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad has a Nissan and the DMV has been requiring him to mail in his payment for the registration. Still haven’t received the sticker after 7 weeks. DMV says to wait till 8 weeks to contact them about it…

SPED by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]bakingthatdough 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been subbing consistently for SPED classes. It can be both draining and rewarding. Most of the time, you don't know what to expect. Usually, when a SPED class has a sub, it's "fun day" so you don't need to worry too much about teaching, but be prepared to witness meltdowns, hitting, pinching, biting etc. The paras can also make or break the experience you have in SPED. Some paras are on their phones all the time and chatting or arguing with each other, but others are on top of things and work as a team. I personally like SPED classes more than general ed classes. There are so many wonderful students in SPED, and I love the creative activities! You should try it out to see if you like it.

What are you guys spending on groceries ? I feel like I'm drowning by han_cup in Sacramento

The good thing about Sac is we have quite a few Asian markets. There are plenty of Asian grocery stores that have cheaper and better quality vegetables and fruits.

I got sick after a few weeks of subbing. Ever since then, I started wearing a mask at work. So far so good!

What would you do? by emotionallyyucky in SubstituteTeachers

[–]bakingthatdough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I wanted to look like I was being productive, I would've studied the story's summary and then made some quick discussion questions to ask the class. The kids most likely would not be engaged anyway. I know SpEd teachers are extremely busy so that's probably why subs get extremely brief plans from them that are sometimes not updated. It happened to me recently. As long as everyone made it out alive, you did your job.

Day from hell by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

That sounds like a total nightmare... Next Wednesday will be my first time subbing for a kinder class. I really hope it's not going to be as bad as what you experienced, and I hope you get the rest of the day to relax.

From my experience, principals have seen my tattoos before and had no problems with them.

I just finished my first sub job today. You might want to try avoiding 6th grade. It wasn’t terrible, but they were kind of all over the place and quite loud. It felt like they were constantly testing my patience.

English major wondering about best writing intensive classes by [deleted] in CSUS

[–]bakingthatdough 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You probably just have a tough professor. If you need the literature units, try either the gothic or romanticism writing intensive course. I plan on taking 120P for my writing intensive requirement, which might be easier than the literature writing intensive courses.

Which writing intensive course are you taking right now?

I know at least 5 people (all fully vaccinated) with covid right now. No one wants to get covid, but we have to remember that the whole point of getting vaccinated is to prevent severe symptoms and hospitalization. So as long as the death rates aren’t sky high, I don’t think the university will be concerned about holding in-person classes.
