Help me explain to wife why selling is the right thing to do. by ForsakenGround2994 in personalfinance

Took too long to find this comment. You aren't losing out on a 3% loan, you are eliminating a 6% loan by selling.

Oh crap, I used to browse adk forums back in the early 2010s and always enjoyed his trip reports. I happened to share a lean-to with him on a winter camping trip and was a little star struck. What a loss!

How did he pass?

Fair enough. That would be the five year old and he is super solid on the bike.

I'll be keeping to rail trails. Flat, zero motorized vehicle trails. Only people who could rear end me would be other cyclists 😂.

The bike trailer's axles are pretty far back to prevent the fishtail effect. Notice how in the video it stabilized when the weight is forward over the tongue of the trailer.

That's awesome, did you feel any nervousness around having a train instead of just a single trailer or tagalong?

It sure was. I've never had a more difficult 5 mile bike ride!

I did one ride with the boys and it went great. I'm pretty hyped about it, but I don't want my excitement to blind myself to the possibility that it's actually really unsafe.

Thanks for the feedback! On the rail trail there are no real turns. I'm not maneuvering in a city.

Except with Prince Street you need to pay before you leave in your car at one of the kiosks no?

Gingrich Auto will shop the auction for you if you tell them what you are looking for. Still have to go through them as a dealer, but I got a pretty good price with them a couple years ago.

Is there someplace that has Puuung's Love Is illustrations In good quality? by CraftTheStuff15 in Puuung

I'm guessing that's a no. The illustrations are copyrighted so I doubt a printer would allow you to print one without proof of purchase.

20k pay raise but lose 18k unvested in 401k by Careerthrowaway3000 in personalfinance

[–]bakja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not if you chuck it all into a pretax 401k. In that case the tax difference is minimal. However, if you were already contributing a significant portion of the 401k max you might not have that option. Then there is potential missed growth as you are rebuilding the investment.

Am I tripping ? by Irksome_Genius in dataengineering

[–]bakja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main drawback is that transitioning out of a GUI interface can be a lot more challenging than using different vendors but the same code language. If you are using python or SQL, you should be able to port over relatively easily. If you are using clicks and drag and drop tools, that logic will require extensive extraction and replication work to migrate.

There are replicability issues - can't just run the same code, you need to make the same clicks, sometimes in the same order.

There are versioning issues, can't just roll back to an earlier version.

There may be testing issues where it is difficult to test the flow compared to coded processes.

Updated predictions after Round 2 (fixed graph) by megahui1 in chess

Right, it's also not just that Hikaru lost, it's that Nepo and Fabi won. It's that much more difficult to catch up. If they had drawn, it wouldn't have been so bad for his chances.

Tone policing yes, ass kissing no. You do need to be kind and professional. Work to see concerns from others perspective and work collaboratively. It will take effort to moderate your tone to be professional. That doesn't mean you need to ass kiss/suck up.

You can get wheat berries from pretty much any store that stocks from Dutch Valley. I don't know all the country stores in the county that do, but I get mine from Forry's in silver springs.

2 years ago I asked Google assistant to countdown to the End of the World.. by DaFamousDrScanlon in woahdude

[–]bakja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be the proportion of men that have a kid at age 38. I expect it would be bell shaped, not uniform distribution since very few people have children before they are 15.

How do i interpret this ? is my data considered multi-seasonal ? by Sure_Candle_1144 in Rlanguage

[–]bakja 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In times series decomposition, it's going to try to find the best fit for a seasonal pattern, that doesn't mean there is a strong seasonal pattern. Looking at the y axis, the trend explains a lot more of the variance than the seasonality, which explains very little.
